Ummm, cough, any old Troopy enthusuiasts here?

    Hi All

Can anyone recommend a forum on old Troopies or where old Troopy lovers might hang out?

A very low mileage original condition 1970 model might be coming on the market very soon. It would be nice if a true believer got to hear of it first.

    cheers

an old troopy? Why would you? I drove them in the territory and in the army and would never want the experience again. apart from massive fuel consumption, they were uncomfortable, noisy, and dirt road handling was almost dangerous. Other than that if nostalgia is your crank go for it.

I thought they had all dissolved into rust years ago, although I did see one in Sydney last week - with fishoil oozing from every rust hole.

Well, thanks, I guess. It was a long shot asking here.

"and would never want the experience again. apart from massive fuel consumption, they were uncomfortable, noisy, and dirt road handling was almost dangerous. Other than that if nostalgia is your crank go for it."

Don't think the owner would disagree but you know how people are, we get attached to the strangest things.

I'm proud to say I am no expert but I believe the FJ55 was like a station wagon was it not? Great gandma of the 200 series? This thing is not one of those. It is a big square box built by Arkana here in WA. Most of the old ones were two door but this one was a bit flash, it has a third door and a fold away bench seat behind. It still has the original FJ?5 sticker on the engine block so popping the bonnet would solve the mystery.
