I was just wondering if you could please sign this petition. It would take less than a minute to do and mean a lot. It is about stopping greyhound muzzling in NSW. Even if you don't live in NSW, it would mean a lot. If you have ever met a greyhound, you would have seen that they are extremely placid dogs and are completely harmless to humans. The law has been abolished in many states in Australia. I am in contact with the Member for Hornsby, Matt Kean over Facebook about this issue. He said that when I get enough signatures, he will take it to parliament.
    Thanks in advance,
    Tom ^

Stop Greyhound Muzzling In NSW Petition

    Petition ^^
I have this theory that it's not any particular breed of dog that's the problem its the owner and the dog's training. I have a German Shepherd that would roll over for belly-busters if an intruder hopped the fence. It just seems as if aggressive owners have these 'aggressive breeds' and give an entire breed of dog a bad name.

    Signed the petition.

Hi Tom, I too have a GAP dog, best dogs out there. In Vic, a GAP greyhound does not require a muzzle, but racing dogs still do require them. Is this not the case in NSW? Does you GAP Greyhound require a muzzle?

    Cheers - Gav.

Doh! Stupid me - sorry Lou, for some reason I didn't even see your first post. I usually carefully read the entire thread before commenting, but put that down to a long day at work...

Hope they manage to sort out some approved temperament testing up there soon, as not all Greyhounds chase small fluffy things. I have had 2 GAP dogs now, both of which don't show any interest in chasing things - either small dogs, or my cats - That's probably why they were put up for adoption in the first place though...

    Cheers - Gav.

Yeah we were going to adopt a GAP dog. But they did not have a lot of dogs for adoption during that period of time. In the end we ended up adopting an ex-racer straight from the racer himself. And I tell you what, he is the quietest and most placid dog I've ever seen. He has never barked in our house or in the backyard. We do donate to GAP NSW and once we get our guy de-sexed, he will be eligible to attend the green collar days which allow greyhounds in NSW not to have to wear muzzles.

Second that, Geman Shepherdsare really scary, mine is terrified of our pug and loves everyone that walks in the front door. The only one of our dogs that barks at strangers is our Lab Golden retriever cross!
