I need a muzzle for our 4 month-old Labrador pup - she's certainly not harmless! Her teeth are like needles.
Hi guys,
I was just wondering if you could please sign this petition. It would take less than a minute to do and mean a lot. It is about stopping greyhound muzzling in NSW. Even if you don't live in NSW, it would mean a lot. If you have ever met a greyhound, you would have seen that they are extremely placid dogs and are completely harmless to humans. The law has been abolished in many states in Australia. I am in contact with the Member for Hornsby, Matt Kean over Facebook about this issue. He said that when I get enough signatures, he will take it to parliament.
Thanks in advance,
Tom^

Perhaps it is not humans that need to be protected from greyhounds.
Back in the 70s, a friend of mine was walking his little dog. I'm not sure what breed it was, but if I remember correctly, it looked a bit like a toilet brush with legs. A greyhound being exercised by its owner on the same playing field broke away from the owner and attacked the little dog.
Maybe it mistook it for a tin hare, but whatever the reason, the greyhound seemed bent on eating this little dog and as it was not wearing a muzzle, it probably would have if my friend had not intervened. It doesn't surprise me that the greyhound reacted as it did. Aren't they trained to chase little fluffy things that move?
There must have been a reason for the introduction of the regulation requiring muzzles. Perhaps it was because of incidents like the one I have described.

'They' should not discriminate by race, religion or breed. All dogs should be muzzled. Tight enough that they can't bark
And poo catchers too.
Funny because my greyhound has never barked once In my House nor in the backyard. And I adopted mine from a racer.
I might have forgotten some information, the greyhounds I am talking about are the greyhounds which have been through GAP NSW. GAP NSW are a adoption program for dumped greyhounds.
You should check them out. If you do not live in NSW, then not to worry, there is the GAP program in other states :P.
It might just change your mind
G'day Folks![]()
For those that are unaware, "Greyhound Adoption Program" is the retraining and re-homing failed and aging racing greyhounds, it has been running for many years now and these re-homed dogs make very good pets, but tend to become "Lounge Lizards" but still need average exercise
cheers
Tom
I think you will find it is already the case![]()
They just need to be temperament tested.

However there are no approved temperament testing faciliteis as of yet so the amendment doesn't come in to effect until this happens
However the muzzles really although they say public saftey is about them chasing/attacking.eating smaller animals not biting people.
Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......
Yeh I have to admit when I had two cattle dogs I walk them in the park on a lead.
Occasionally I would come across a guy walking his muzzled greyhounds. From about 25m away this guy would go of his rocker, ranting and raving about coming to close. It was hard to tell who was more ago, the dogs or him, but I was glad the dogs were muzzled.
The really odd bit was he walked towards me the first couple times. But then I liked to walk over to him just to get a response, **** him

Thats half the problem! My uncle trained and raced greys for years in the 70's and 80's. To gee them up a bit and get them to run fast he used to twist or flick their knackers as he was loading them. If you loaded someone elses dog, you may even rub a bit of bryll cream into it's eyes or over it's nose to upset it's balance. I thought it was funny at the time.
But you needed to muzzle them to stop them nipping at you.
See, it's their own fault for not being winners
Ralph
Disclaimer: I have never actually done any of these things to a grey nor any other dog save the mongrel across the street when I was 12 which I used to tease mercilessly coz it bit my sister.
