A few weeks back whilst on our travels I noticed gear oil appearing, actually, spraying onto the inside of my chasis. This was of GREAT concern to me as we are currently making our way around Australia.
So I put up a plea for help up on the site hoping to gain some much needed advice, as I'm a bit of a gearbox dummy. Thankfully my cry's for help were heard by member Hodgo and he offered for himself and a mate to run an eye over it to see what was needed. Much relieved I made my way up to the goldcoast where I met Hodjo at another friends place and yep you guessed it, another Landrover addict.
What was to proceed left me with an overwhelming feeling of humble thanks. No sooner had the boys looked at my truck (wich is all I was hoping for) the problem had been positively identified and we were sent in the direction of the required part. An output shaft seal $2.50, then instructed to head straight back to Hodgo's (Cliff), place where we could stay the night and fix the truck in the morning.
We were housed and fed by complete strangers who didn't feel like strangers for long at all after a feed and a wonderful chat around the table.
Hodgo and I set to work on the truck first thing only to find the Uj was stuffed and had probably caused the whole problem, so with out asking I was wisked around town to find a new UJ and then given run of the shed and a guiding hand to get it all sorted out.
As the works took most of the day we were put up for another night and had some great chats and laughs around the table.
I'm so greatful to be part of the Landrover community there really is so much comradeship and mutual understanding of the joys and pains of owning these wonderful Vehicles.
Much thanks to the few crew that I met in SE QLD. You are truly awesome.
