I consulted some experts. and was advised of these following bits of hopefully helpful information.

    Extended Warranty for Wife

Date of Birth (insert here as reminder)
Wedding Anniversary (insert here as a reminder)
    Valentines Day 14.02. every year

All the above dates are designated special and certain behaviour is expected to extend shelf life and effectiveness of WIFE.

    Gifts

    Acceptable
Chardonnel and Walker Champagne Truffles – Pink Packaging available at myers and other large stores
White Wine Dry – Australian over $10
Red Wine – Australian- not to bloody fruity over $10

WIFE Feeding Instructions (for best performance)

On Special Dates- preference for female tastes
Breakfast, Muffins or Bagels with soft eggs and smoked Salmon
Dinner – Beef Wellington, Scallops, large prawns no shell

    Avoid at all costs:
    Ferro Roche
    Slimey shop bought Lasagne
    Oxo ified Shepherds Pie.
    Roast Pork
    Cheap wine
Flowers purchased from garage, even if garage has Coles franchise.

    Host Behaviour

Avoid removing furniture whilst guests are eating and still enjoying the ambience.
Unless major incident involving water has occurred do not proceed with OCD behaviour type in dining room.
On allocated ‘Special Days’ total of 4 per annum including the recent Mothers Day declared null and void for 2012. At least try to act as though wife is the chosen female you have allocated to spend your eternity with. BE NICE

I wonder what chance I would have with lodging a counter suit on the grounds of Breach of Patent, in that he (S.in L) has managed to produce two identical younger replicas of the aforementioned goods - (and another one, more a replica of him in certain aspects) using the original item as not only a pattern from which to copy, but more-so as a means of the reproduction.
He will no doubt enjoy some personal profit from these two younger clones in the future (as did I from our two, one marrying a builder and the other an electrician- my house maintenance costs have been cut dramatically!- only down side is that by not having another, we missed out on the trifecta, a motor mechanic would have proved handy).
Or perhaps I should just simply let the whole matter slide and sit back and enjoy the situation that he has placed himself in, that is, babysitting three hormonal teenagers for a week or so all on his lonesome.
His every paternal decision will be challenged by the three who are all at the stage where Parent's are mindless idiots, and he will have no female presence to counteract the guile and trickery of the onslaught from the two girls! The oldest one is at the "Look what followed me home, can I keep him?" stage, and the other two are hot on her heels learning quickly from the oldest ones mistakes.
Ahh! I remember those days well. Perhaps that will be punishment enough!
    Revenge is sweet.
    Regards
    Glen

Who on earth offers a 15 (at a minimum) year warranty on ANYTHING????

Besides which, you need to remind the SIL that you are NOT the manufacturer, simply an unpaid employee, and that he needs to take his case to the head office, in this case, his MIL.

When you are given a tasty morsel to eat, one that is tasty enough to merit comment, do you compliment the chef who prepared it or do you compliment the microwave oven in which it was cooked????
It is time we mere males stood up for ourselves and said it like it really is!!

Being the nice guy that I am, I am more than willing to examine said goods and test them to see if they are still fit for purpose.
