I thought this all happened years ago in Australia.

e.g. AFAIK, "Land-Rover Land" were forced to change their name to "British Offroad"

However the logo is still similar

I think a blue logo with the name of a now defunct car company is a pretty long bow to draw.

Geeezzzzzzz....LR could have boundless opportunities to change the english language.

    Pity the Boy Scouts though.

Rover, n. a male or female Homo sapien aged between 17 1/2 and 26 years old, dedicated to fun and adventure, whilst serving the community in the Scouting way.

The oldest organisation within the scouting movement.

Then there is the thing sitting in my shed with four wheels and a motor, no steering wheel, but has blades attached to a wheeling wheel like object under it.

The song 'Gypsy Rover' will have to change perhaps to the 'Gypsy Wanderer" or 'Gypsy Walker' or 'Gypsy Strider' or just plain ' That #*&&% Gypsy is back again'

...and Rove Mc Manus may yet feel the full force of LR cos it just possible he could be mistaken for an oil leaking icon.

Rover Coaches a registered business based in the Hunter Valley are definately in trouble.....the shame of it all, fancy trying to associate your business with LR.

Rovercraft is a server that is run from Servercraft will definately have to change their name as they have an identical name to the LR parts supplier.

Then there is the Rover Rancher, the ride on mower, well after this I would not be seen dead on one of those.

Then there is the centuries old play "The Rover" by Aphra Behn about a group of Royalists during the time of Cromwell wandering around Italy sharing their dna with the local population, mainly the females(but you never know with those Royalists). Now that is definately going to have to change as we cannot permit mindless morons to think that LR was in anyway responsible for all the resulting bambinos.

..and I will not mention the Tasmanian based Rover Ski Club based at Ben Lomond, the impact this mob must have on LR is just not believiable....Oh the anguish of it all....I have to go and have a bex and a beer.

... and dare we mention the kerfuffle about UGG boots, or was that UG,,, or UGH?

Correct me if I'm rong... but some Yank company was sold the 'rights' to UGG, by someone who did'nt have clear right to do so.

Put it another way, they bought the Harbour Bridge, then got sulky about it.

Or a pre-history eatery down south in WA called MacDonalds, or something like that.

    They lost.

Why should'nt 'they' trade-mark English words... ? - Big Bio-Tech corporations are doing the same with existing DNA, such as traditional plants/fruits/etc.

Silly people for letting them get away with it!

    RobHay,

Just very thankfull that I've chucked my green "ROVER" lawn-mower, no doubt I'd be in big strife 'cos it had a Yankee engine on it... which did'nt leak oil at all.

Like to see them take on NASA, with their Mars ROVER.

I couldn't agree more. Whether it's a forum, a business, a club...if it promotes the marque in some way, shape or form. But close minded suits and accountants don't think that way...
