The system has had a major problem this saturday afternoon and i have had to revert to the backup i made when i transfered the system to the new server.

Definitely feel for you Inc. Recently had a similar occurrence at work when our site server failed, and the only back-up that we could get to work on the replacement was about a week old. In our case, a lot of data to be manually re-entered.
I think that the amount of work you put in to keep this place running and constantly improving is something that very few people would do of their own accord - we-re all the better for your efforts.
