    weighty problem

    I have a problem - I have been driving a company 4x4 of a non LR persuasion over the past couple of weeks (yes, a problem in itself, but not the question at hand). On the side of the vehicle is written the following;

    GVM: 3.000
    Tare: 2.857
    Load: 0.143

    I have searched how this relates to ADR, and how this relates to the vehicle. I have found plenty of info relating to trailers, but not what it means in this case.

    Can someone explain what it exactly means?

    My take on this is the following;
    GVM = the total permissable weight of the vehicle
    Tare = The unladen weight of the vehicle - ie: without people or fuel
    Load = The maximum weight of the load the vehicle (including people and fuel) can carry to reach 3 tonne.

    Have I got this right??

    If the speed of light = 299,792,458 m/s, what is the speed of dark?

    IIRC, the tare does include all standard fluids (fuels/oils/water).

    Sounds like you have a handle on things.
    GVM= Maximum vehicle weight
    Tare= Unloaded with low fuel(in our case add drawers, bull bar,2nd batt. ect.)
    Net/Load=(in trucks it's "pay load")Maximum weight available to fit all your food/camping gear/people/ect..

    The tare does sound high though, have you checked it on a weigh bridge?
    Cheers, Kyle

    It is a specialist build with a required legislative safety fit out.

    Four door one? Does the Tare include accessories like bull bar extra spare wheel rops bar cargo barrier? Thought a bare 70series was around the 2.3 mark but wouldn't be hard to get to 2.8 with a few bits and pieces. Why we get a brand new 70 series (3 seater) then go spend 4k on suspension and another 1.5 on tyres.

    From tojo's website

    For the fourdoor workmate
    Kerb weight (kg)2230
    - Gross vehicle weight rating (kg)3000

    For the troop carrier workmate
    Kerb weight (kg)2330
    - Gross vehicle weight rating (kg)3300
