    from my limited understanding most employers pay for the schooling... happy to be corrected, i also think most of the schooling is heavily subsidised and not that expensive anyway...

    One of my sons changed industries in his early twenties and will shortly be a qualified chef. The pay has been paltry and he has really struggled especially since his wife had to at least temporarily give-up work due to an injury. I've learnt that pay rates are even less when employed by a small business partnership but perhaps that's a quirk of the NSW food service industry award.
