I love this bit, it is spot on:

    Quote:
To really understand how ****ant Australians have become, just have a think about the environmental movement. On the one hand, an overwhelming majority of Australians think something has to be done to preserve the environment and cut down on carbon pollution. Fair enough. But on the other hand those same people are shocked and appalled when you suggest they have to make some sacrifices and take some personal responsibility. Sacrifice? Responsibility? You say this to an Australian these days and they look at you like you've just spat in their eggs Florentine.
    End of Quote

Well worth reading and on some fronts quite true unfortunately ...and I don't believe he was saying anyone or everyone who drinks brewed coffee is a snob.

    cheers,

    Lotta truth in that.
Relating it to current politics is interesting too as most of the noise we hear from both sides just seems like self-indulgent whinging to me.

Ok Mr Napper! I suggest you spend some time talking to those of us in the 'engine room' of the Australian economy, SMALL BUSINESS, before you come out with such a load of sanctimonious crap sprouting ill informed generalisations about who or what is 'Australian'!
I, like many others act as a tax collector, employer, and tax payer often for very little more than the wages I pay to others. I don't get to work a 38 hour week, I don't get RDO's and when I take holidays, I don't get paid a 17.5% loading!
Carbon Tax.... $3.00 yeah right! I've worked it out that the carbon tax will cost me around $2400/year without counting fuel and the like, who will compensate ME! Our turnover is already suffering because people are not spending as they were and now, I'm supposed to 'Absorb' an extra $2400 each year.
Well Mr Napper, I'll absorb it by putting off an employee! Multiply THAT by about 600,000 small businesses in this country and we'll see what the unemployment figures look like.
FACT: The carbon tax will make absolutely NO difference to the earth.
FACT: Australia will be less competitive with a carbon tax when others dont have one.
FACT: MOST of us are not so far up ourselves to be so concerned about not being able to get a macchiatto.

I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

If I remember reading a while back about how so many of the forum members here take or make their coffee I think half the forum are coffee snobs.
