How do you know the prototype doesn't retain all those "features" :D

Having recently been in a roll over in my D2a, I dont want curved glass (except for the alpine windows) good strong body work and not complicated electrics.
we used our D2a pretty much as a two seat hard top utility
Ideally a D2a that was 10 inches longer would have been perfect
the pictures that I have seen (only on this thread) make it look like one of those new FJ things, and its not pretty

We were really excited about the new defender we always had them and we have our 2001 Disco that weve had since new and need to replace it we just got my grandparents a D4 SDV6 and its a beut towcar, but the TD5 is more down to earth which we like it and mum doesn't want to drive a defender, because the disco is more comfortable we were hoping they would bring out a new defender that was specced like a D2 and not this horrid plastic yuppy mobile, with the front overhang of a land crusher, looks like we'll hang onto the old disco forever now, sorry landrover you probably just lost at least 2 or 3 sales in our family, maybe you'll pick them up in soccer mums but i seriously doubt you will ever sell a soft roader like this to anyone who previously owned a proper deefer, i say sack the designer and let the engineers do the body as they always have, and don't forget to keep the beam axles, maybe base it on the D2 chassis with detachable swaybars, factory difflocks, etc, they need a few model one specced like an SVX, a workmate (poverty pack) and an 'S' model that you can option up as you wish for tourers and families, don't forget KISS rule we want to take it further than the city, no complicated electrickery please (just TC and abs) then add all the stuff you see on a Wrangler rubicon, and the power of a TDV8 landcruiser ute and your set, heck if there is a model like a landcruiser you might even win some mine and army contracts back, that would really boost your numbers not yuppies, MOST IMPORTANT DON'T OVER COMPLICATE IT, IT NEEDS TO BE RELIABLE
if the DC100 comes out i swear i'll buy a landcruiser or a Wrangler and my family has been in the business of landrover for over 50 years so thats saying something coming from a diehard fan like me.
I like the look of the five door, but the front on the three door is fugly. Real issues will be the suspension and how simple, reliable and easily fixed in the bush it is. If they want to penetrate developing markets there must be a huge market for a base version. They could cut the cost by building it at Tata in India. If they get the basic version right, they can then tart it up and sell a lot more to the yuppies.
Yeh i like the funrover mock up, but the whole concept doesn't look defenderish enough, makes me think that LR might have put out some BS to get everyone talking and then bring out something proper at the motor show after all the pictures are photoshoped anyway (apparently) so they might be trying to head us off? What annoys me is everyone says the FJ cruiser is dirrect descendant to the 40 series (well it is actually direct descendant to old Prado) but the true descendant is the 76 series cruiser, so land rover should keep a proper defender to be comparable to the landcruiser and wranglers not a yuppy car to replace it, just replace it properly staying true to its roots, do it properly and they will win back some big contracts and then thier numbers will be sorted i'm sure tata's management is capable of this.
:D
They will probably do the same with the design team that they did with the eevoke (sorry I have to write it like that because the correct pronunciation of what they spelt is eevock). Remember they brought in a soccer milf ahh sorry again, mum to do the interior design.
This will probably have some hackneyed former glory who will "head" the design team. You will get dicky little doodads in place of rubber mats. See if I'm wrong.

Is it just possible that Landrover are having a lend of us all and the real DC100 is going to be unveiled at Frankfurt? Perhaps the images they released were just to get everyone fired up and paying attention...
God I hope so.
The problem is that vehicles like the Landcruiser and the Wrangler aren't simple either.
We've just bought a new Wrangler and it has a full canbus system, ABS, DSC, and everything is controlled by the body computer, to the point that if you add the factory handsfree kit it won't work until activated by the dealer.
I think the days of non electronic 4wds are long gone

Note the different headlight/foglight treatments. The front end is obviously still under contention.
