I guess the question is, is what he says or does on the show actually correct, if it is then its not so bad...

Wonder what his real name is? The story about the man in the bear suit to stage the "attack" in the Rocky Mts. says it all. There have been a number of these pretenders trying to cash in on Steve Irwins legacy [ mind you , there was more than a bit of hollywood there too , I think] Good luck to them, no one forces anybody to watch the show, Bob

His program is lafrgely a joke, intersperced with the odd tidbit of useful information. What sort of irresponsible muppet thinks it's a good idea to charge full pelt down a steep jungle slope in an actual survival situation? Or drink water without boiling it, even if you think it'll be safe? It seems to me that his programs are more entertainment than education.
Nonetheless, they do get kids interested in the outdoors & I have heard of one teen who followed what he learned from Man v. Wild when he got lost & told the rescuers he was fine because he had an idea of what to do. SoI have to admit they do serve some purpose.

Now if you want proper 'live in the wild' type programs, you want programs by Les Hiddens and Ray Mears. Anything you can find by Mors Kochanski is well worth perusing. Try youtube. There's lots of other good stuff on there too.

There was a kid here in NZ who got lost in the bush and walked 21 km before he was found. Grylls' said "Well done", of course the SAR guys know nothing when they say stay where you are if you get lost. That he was found is more down to good luck than good management. If he had been injured 20km from the point he was lost he would never have been found.
