Gave Lennock a call, they said to harden up and just pull it up. I'll try that and let you know how I get on too.
Thanks

Yep. Just pull it up. No little 'key required'. Remember to change the radio regional setting to Asia/Pacific for better reception (don't know why but it works). Dealer will not have done this despite what you have paid them.

PS Give some thought to joining the local Land Rover Club. Quite a few forumites are members.
Want a power aerial - buy a range rover! :wasntme:
The Defender is probably aimed at people wanting a vehicle that will retain its (however basic it may have been to start with) functionality after years of bush bashing. Power aerial + water + bulldust + age = not a happy camper IMHO!
See, it wasn't a stupid question :) and you got quality answers,as there are lots of things different on Landrover products than on the asian whitegoods that are called vehicles ;)
cheers
I'm with KarlB on the Asia Pacific setting, especially if you drive more than 10km out of town! Just remember it defaults back to Europe if you are required to re-enter the code (longish battery disconnection).
The Puma's FM/AM arial is manual telescopic as said before. Not sure it would survive a decent whack off road to be honest. African Spec 300Tdi's used to have a spring steel whip that was near indestructable. I've been searching for one ever since...
Now that I have resolved the 'how to question' I am on the hunt for a whip aerial / antenna to replace it. I'll let you know how I get on.
Why not put an auto powered antenna - put in a manual switch so you can put it up and down as required - in addition to control by the radio.
