OK how about a 9000lb winch on a Def90 that hasn't been in low range for 2 years

nah.......i think the most useless thing is the bits of rubber between the doors and the body on defenders.........

i think they are meant to resemble seals........well.....at least they are made out of the same material and are the same shape.......

    Bob,
I saw the main tank & it was a 120 litre jobby, the others fitted under the driver & passenger seats perhaps 70 litres each??, & before anyone asks, the batteries ( Optima's) were relocated down in a custom compartment at the back passenger end behind the rear wheel .
I'm not sure how it all worked but this Landie was set up for desert touring & the guy I bought it off wanted 3 independant fuel supply systems so that if a fuel pump died he could keep going, there is a giant fuel filter under the bonnet, so I would assume they all supplied the motor- probably had one way valves.
BTW I only mentioned all this as questions were asked about the dash holes I think the concept is solid- if you have the cash to splash
I don't want to hijack here, so here is the tutorial.

When I was young and incredibly stupid I may have been guilty of performing the most pointless modification ever to a LandRover. Back in 1971 during a rebuild of my vehicle after a multiple rollover, I was stuck for a couple of weeks with nothing to do while I saved up for some replacement body panels. Anyway with most of the body and the floor panels removed, the gearbox and transfercase were exposed, and as a couple of weeks earlier I had been impressed when I saw a vintage car with a polished aluminium gearbox, I thought it would be a good idea to do the same to the Landy transmission.
After about a week of rubbing and sanding in my spare time I had a gleaming mirror finish on both the gearbox and transfercase that I was so proud of that I was very reluctant to put the floor panels back in when I finally finished rebuilding the truck. What an idiot, and I didn't do drugs then either

    noise

    Hi All

In my early years, I installed a bull horn of the noisy type into a 86".
The district people then used to just look at me with disgust written all over their faces.

When I was a bit younger and half way through a clutch change I thought it would be cool to drive mine with no floor or doors, just a milk crate on the fuel tank. You do silly things like that when your young. Pat
