we have been going to the same spot for 4 years and this is the first time we have got through
the last few years there was so much weed it was never going to work
but it seams to have 90% dissapeared
wathumba creek at low tidae is only knee deep at the deepest place
the hard part was getting out the other side
i went first and i went to the left of the track on the other side of the creek
i couldnt quite get up the last bit so a set of max trax were used and off i went
then the others came through, they tried the track and allmost got through , it was a little soft
i pulled them out easy
all pretty standard cars rodeo tray back, terracan and a navara
its the way to go if you want to do a trip to the nth east part of the island
i have some pictures at home
when i get a chance i will put some up for you
not sure if you have kids but we got some snow board/tabbogan type things from aldi and the kids ride them down the sand and into the water at the mouth of awinya creek
they loved it
any more q just let me know
cheers
Mick, I'm coming. Finer details to be arranged. Bring Frank.
Good news Dobbo, been hanging out to go back since our last outing there.
Scotty, pics would be great if you could, last time i checked it out it hadnt changed much since 2006 when i was there, getting to the end of the beach from Awinya you had to cross over some swampy grass and down into a weedy pit, that wouldnt have been to hard, but then it dropped off into a sand creek crossing about 2ft deep once again not to bad, but it was the sand on the other side which was like quick sand that stopped me from giving it a go, and anything other then dead low tide i wouldnt even consider it.
but did you tow it over the inland tracks?
We towed up from the barge to Dilli then on to Eurong then into central camp, we saw alot of Jayco style campers while there.
A lot of the Queensland guys on MySwag go to Fraser on a regular basis towing their campers, go in there and have a look.
