anyone swimming in rotto waters is in sea lion territory and therefore great white shark territory who reckon they're delicious
Saw a great show on great white sharks, filmed in Sth Africa. A radio tracking device was attached to a large female White, and she was tracked over about a 6 month period. This shark swam from Durban, to the northern tip of Western Austrealia, down to the Perth area, and they lost contact in the Indian ocean , on the way back to Durban. It appears the females migrate to mate with males in a different gene pool.It was not determined if the sharks ate on the way over, but the trip coincides with the annual Whale migration. What was also mentioned was that sick sharks will eat easier prey, and stick around for longer than usual. Now, I know great whites aren't the only predator in those waters, you also get Tiger sharks.Tiger sharks , in my experience, are to be feared more than the white. Now, my point is, if I have one, is you enter the water in known shark country, is like jumping into a snake pit, and complaining about snakebite. I will say this, if it is a sick shark, taking humans because it can't catch the normal prey, kill it. Bob
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

it is a well known fact that sharks only ever attack or eat wet people...

I have the utmost respect for sharks.
The only time I would ever support a cull, is if I see one walking down Rundle Mall.... on a Saturday.... wearing a really loud shirt..... smoking...... and with its hat on backwards.
It is simple, you are in their space. Don't want to get killed in a plane crash? Don't fly. Don't want to be Sunday roast for a shark? Don't swim in their waters.
And, if I may take a selfish moment, if there was ever a NEED for a cull, my family would probably expect me to be at the front of the line. My father was killed by a shark while diving off the coast of Kangaroo Island, in 1967 - 5 months before I was born. Think about the family impact of that.
I think the balance of Shark eats Man vs. Man eats Shark is already not on the natural side of the food chain.
So sad though it might be for the family members, leave the poor old sharks alone. We already knock enough of them over just because they are tasty, you can't blame a Great White for doing what comes naturally.
Polititions grandstand because they have to keep the movers @ shakers onside,[ the people who donate the dollars ] If there is a shark that cannot migrate back to Africa, because of illness, for example, best to get rid of it. Time will tell if this is the case. Another point to think about, have the professional fishermen of this part of the world overfished, so that the sharks have less of their natural diet , and take the easy option? The ocean is not an infinate resource, and no, I'm not a greenie , just someone closely associated to the sea for most of my life. Bob
