Yesterday, price quoted for plenum stepper motor:
Australia : AU$ 270
UK : under AU$ 40 delivered

It's not a Landrover part but I wanted a 32 gig micro disc for my camera, around $140 from Dick Smith, I bought it off the net........$39.00 a Sandisc HD the same brand that Dick Smith had. There's just no way I want to danate $100 of my hard earned dosh to Woolworths

and more misguided people assuming its all profit at the retail store.
it has been shown in this thread the chain of supply, andhow the retail stores do make profit, but not anywhere near on the scale you might think.

noone wants to buy their stores which are currently for sale. think about it. they are not a profitable business and noone wants the stores, so your statement is obviously incorrect.

but again i guess people will only believe what they want to believe not what is actually going on in this world.

My statement is quite correct regarding the pricing, I wouldn't say it if it wasn't.

I suggest that either DS don't buy as well or where I bought it from is making a loss.

By the way if you google 32gig micro cards you will see the pricing for yourself (I bought from Zanui), and if you go to DS they will happily give you the price for one.

Nup, you can shove your arrogant aussie shop assistants with their 'attitude' towards customers. Don't get me started on the work ethic or trade skills.

Just be a bit careful that you are comparing apples and apples.
I have been through this exercise in the last couple of months.
I am now on my THIRD stepper which seems to work.
I bought 1 from USA for $30 or so. Didn't work
Next one from a UK small injection specialist, and it was incorrect to the extent that the little tabs that locate the plug were in the wrong place, and then the damn seller argued for a week that I was wrong, until I sent him photos. It was apparently for a KV6.
Third time lucky with one from LR Direct at about $70-80 AFAIR.

didn't disagree with the pricing. i disagreed with the statement that the retailers were banking the difference as profit.
and anyone with any sense would understand a retailer with retail rent space ($4k a month at a guess for a small store) versus an online store with someones' backyard garage is straight away going to have a cost of holding goods difference, let alone staff wages and power consumption for having all those lovelies on display so you can go look at it before you buy it ( and then you probly go buy online once you have picked the brains of the retailer )
people are claiming that the retailers are banking all the extra profit.
My argument is not that there is a price difference, (that is quite obvious there i dont need to look it up), but in what people believe is the reason for that price difference is wrong.

p.s. if DS will match online prcing, then that is obviously the reason they are closing stores due to not being profitable. they are crazy for doing that. easiest way to end up as a brand that used to be.
