Looks like they've released the same rubbish at Dubai. I was hoping for something better.

"...Evolved since its unveiling in September, the DC100 Dubai edition now features off-road optimised 20-inch alloy wheels with Cooper all-terrain tyres, and is finished in a distinctive colour combination of Fuji White paint with a Santorini Black roof...."

wow - they spent a lot of time on those improvements! - not

I think the basic shape could be OK as a 90 three-door. The grille is fugly but easily changed. The real test will be the five-door.
If they really have five concepts underway, they've probably released the least likely first to stir up interest before they bring out the real thing (hopefully).

Now with a snorkel & roof rack for USA show.

In the photo of it off roading, it just lacks the presence that a Defender has. I'm not saying it's not capable, just that it lacks a confident stance.

Land Rover to unveil new DC100 concept cars | PR Fire

"...Some of the features that will appeal to said adventure seekers include the off-road 20-inch alloy wheels perfect for all terrain, ..."

I don't know of any adventure seekers to whom 20" wheels on a Land Rover appeal to. The achilles wheel of the D3 is it's 18" mags - punctures on every trip. Let's hope we see the next Defender shod with some more appropriate footwear.

or a more realistic appraisal http://www.motorauthority.com/news/1...eles-auto-show

"...Call us cynical, but a front-wheel-drive Land Rover with 20-inch wheels and low profile tires sounds like it’s designed more for Beverly Hills than for the African hills. We know it’s still years away from production, but we can’t help wondering if Land Rover has lost its way on this one...."

Land Rover Defender to stay rugged

    16 November 2011

    • Next Defender 'hard as nails'
    • Due on sale 2017
    • Next evolution of DC100 concept car revealed

    More Information

    Latest News

The new Land Rover Defender will not lose any of its capabilities or off-road credentials when it goes on sale in 2017, the company's design boss, Gerry McGovern, has told What Car?.

'It will be as hard as nails and a working tool,' he said. 'The new Defender will be affordable and stripped right down'.

McGovern was speaking on the eve of today's Los Angeles motor show where the company revealed a new, more rugged version of the DC100 Concept – first revealed at the Frankfurt motor show in September – which is designed to show what a future Defender could look like.

Land Rover boss John Edwards also revealed to What Car? that the company is likely to offer the all-new Defender in as many configurations as the current car, including a variety of wheelbases and special military versions.

He also admitted that it would make a pick-up to rival the Mitsubishi L200 and VW Amarok 'if there is a business case'.
