Whilst in Borneo, I thought it only right to hunt down some land rovers, and was very surprised as to just how many are here.
Most of the series land rovers, live in the villages, and the mountains, and seem to come out mid-afternoon, i got the chance to have a chat with a number of series owners, I also met a lovely chap, who runs are repair/sales yard, in a small village, ( see attached pictures ) he had lots of different landys, and his main line of business, was selling ex Military 110 HCPU, the Malaysia army bought 10,000 of these and a large number have now been sold to tender.
Engine swops, and Auto box’s are well liked, and most of the rebuilds he carry’s out will have the Toyota engine.
The Silver 110 Double cab, was once a station wagon, the puma bonnet cost him $2500, and he had fitted a auto and V6 Toyota.
Surprisingly they have never sold the 130 here, and a lot of 110s station wagons get chopped and they put the 110 HCPU tub on with a little taken off.
Main sellers in the Defender Range seem to be the Puma 110 HCPU, followed by the 110 Station Wagon, but they have also started to sell the 110 DC, the 90 as been discontinued.
Best bit for me was, the free NATO HCPU bracket the chap gave me…..
If anybody’s over that way on holiday, and fancies a few hours driving in the country, then its well worth getting out and having a land rover fun filled day…
This was a rare find too...
Spotted most of these below within a 40k area...
Loved this one.....
And best of all my free gift......
