Chased down a hit a run driver in my 110!

Way back in the early 70's in my motorcycle riding days in Sydney,my other means of transport was a 58 Ford Customline which had recently been repainted Ford GT Bronze and Black, while stopped in traffic in Church St Parramatta one Sat morning a guy in a $50 FE Holden came down private driveway and straight into the rear 1/4 of the Cuzzo :mad: we exchanged info and my passenger and myself were all polite etc. on going out to his address it was a vacant block in an outer suburb,18/20 months later while doing the usual Sat night in the Cross bikie thing,we spot this FE in the stationary traffic, so, myself and several friends visited his driver's door which magicily opened and he fell out,he then opened his wallet and gave me the contents as well as his real address :D The Cuzzo had long been repaired but I still had the invoice.

You have to watch that he doesn't double back round the block and take the note again. My wife witnessed a car get backed into at the university she was attending. She was sitting in her car waiting for the post office to open, saw it happen and watched while the guy left his details (he was looking at her the whole time and appeared to only leave them because someone was watching). She had the forethought to take down the make model and rego of the offending car though. The driver left, she went into the post office and from round the corner, saw the guy walk back to the car, take the note from the car and drive away. She of course left her own note, with the details and her contact number. Got a call from the car owner and the police thanking her for the effort she went to, the hitter was charged not only with damaging the vehicle, leaving the scene but some other charge relating to removing the note (can't remember if it was fraud or something equally severe) but he copped a fine as well as having to pay for the damage as he wasn't insured.

Good on you for doing it! Not sure I would, there are many phsycos in this world. My uncle got assaulted doing something similar. The bloke was found dead a few weeks later - he was a druggie with massive police record.

In the days of technology, first thing in accidents is photograpgh: car, car(s) positions, rego and even the individual driving....

Just thought I'd add a quick story of mine from many years ago. I was parked on the street at a mates place on a wet an wild night. There was a knock on the door, which when answered we found a rather wet and sheepish looking gent asking whose Yellow Torana was parked out the front, as he had backed into it.

Went and had a look, and he had put quite a dent in the drivers door. Mind you, that wasn't the only dent in that door, and almost every panel had damage of some sort from its years of abuse by the previous owner - I got it off a mate for almost nothing, and it was just a work hack.

I said "so which dent is yours then?" He pointed toward the door. I thanked him for his honesty, and told him not to worry about it. A couple of days later he knocked on my door and gave me 2 slabs of beer - there are some honest people out there.

Many years ago (during my youth) I was 'racing' a bloke in another vehicle on my way home from work.:twisted:

On a particularly winding stretch of road I was closing on his rear bumper at close to 100 km/h when a dog ran out in front of him causing him to hit the brakes.:o

Well I threw my vehicle into a slide to try and wash the speed off and essentially did - except not enough... I slid straight into the rear of his car :(

I can tell you, I just drove off..... :angel:
















I'd slid straight into the rear of my Fathers sports car!

I saw a beautiful incident one day in the the Whitford City carpark in WA. Sitting waiting for the cook to finish work (I think we only had one car then) and a bloke in a Land Cruiser swept into a parking space giving the car on his left a big swipe with his bull bar, reversed out immediately and drove into another spot some 30 metres or so away.
Cocky bastard then jumps out of the cruiser and swaggers away without a care in the world.
Not more than a couple of minutes later the owner of the damaged car returned and before I could tell him who did it, someone else did.
He shook the hand of the bloke that told him, went to his car and opened the boot and got a hacksaw out and went straight to the cruiser and cut the curved end bar off it and placed it on its bonnet.
I couldn't wait for the cruisers owner to return as the cook was in a hurry to get home, but wish I had.
Another time my daughter was sitting outside the same shopping centre having a fag (I know, I've told her it's a filthy habit but she takes the same amount of notice of me now as she did when a teenager....none!) when she heard a car alarm going off and guess what? It was the cooks Camry had received a swipe down the side as a P plater reversed out at speed.
She raced over before he could make good his get away and made him give her his details.
Very shamefaced he was and swore he would have left them but certainly didn't look as if he had any intention of doing so.
Insurance company figures show most minor accidents which cost a fortune overall happen in carparks and virtually no one leaves their details.
