Book "Across Australia"

As many of you will know, last month I had a milestone birthday. One of the presents I received was from my brother. He has written a book about the trip the two of us made from Perth to NSW in the 110 about four years ago. He has had the book properly printed and bound by a company that does "print on demand".

Having seen the book, one of my relatives who manages a bookshop has asked for a few copies to see how they sell.

It occurs to me that there may be some people on AULRO who may find it of interest. The book is approximately A4 format, about 150 pages and about 200 photos and maps. Printed on glossy paper, it is hardbound. Cost per copy will be around $50+, depending on the quantities ordered and the exchange rate of the day.

More information on this.

The book is 164 pages with about 220 pictures and maps. There is about 50,000 words of text. At present he is going through it to remove a few typos that he has found and make a couple of changes to the layout (which he hopes will slightly reduce the page count and hence printing cost).

So far I have had three of you say you want a copy. At present he is considering putting it on sale through a bookshop in Dubbo (that does mail order). This would mean the price would probably be higher than the figure I quoted, which was what it costs to get it printed.

Yeah! its not on the book's cover either, as far as I can see.

I will be scrapping some cash together, to get myself a copy and I will then be able to check the inside for any possible inclusions of Tasmania as well.

Anyway thanks for telling us about this book, I will get one soon as I am able to confirm my address is still in Tasmania.

As a result of the number of enquiries my brother has decided that it will be available through a specific bookseller, The Book Connection, in Dubbo.

It can be ordered by orders@bookconnection.com.au

it will take a bit to get some more copies printed, but if you email them they will have a better estimate how many copies to get.
