Thread: Servicing LR's in Adelaide

Hi there. I'm up in Cockatoo Valley. If it's just a basic service, engine oil and filter change, check all levels etc etc I can help, if you r wanting log book service by LR mechanic I know everyone speaks highly of PCB Land Rovers down by the airport. His name is Pete I believe. Google him. You also have Brendan at British 4x4 in Winsor Gardens and Landranger on Main North Road in Pooraka.. Hope this helps. sovereign did a good job at a good price when I used threm yeasrs ago.

PCB Land Rovers (Pete Brown) and Soveriegn both work on my LRs, and they are both good.

On your side of town you might try Kim at Land Ranger on Main North Rd Pooraka. I have only bought parts from him, but he does have a workshop there too.

I've taught myself to do oil changes (engine, gearbox, diffs etc) and other fluids. Its really easy - I'm no mechanic. Did the diffs today actually, just needed a $25 hand pump from Autobarn and the right oil. You could save some money.

Are you free mid January sometime? I can do some things myself but I like gettig someone with more know-how than me and so i can be comfortable knowing it's been done by someone better than me is nice.

Can you pm some dates when you're free? Im actually at Wasleys so not far. We got freinds in cockatoo valley aswell. Its a 180km service nothing major and how much you'd charge and what you'd do if that's possible?

Yeah, no prob. Nah, don't want money! Around most of the time as live and work locally. Just bring oils and filters that you want to change and we'll work thru it together. Bring beer (not West End), that'd b fine! As said before, Kim does parts at Landranger and uses Mahle (think that's spelt right) filters which are good. Just Pm me nearer when u want to do it and we'll set a date, or tie it into the SA Meet and Greet 2 which is in Jan (they have moved that post to events tho). Simon.

One problem is that I dont know what I need to do for the service! I have a fuel filter and I think an oil filter but not much really. Can you suggest what I'd need to replace so I can get it ready?

As for a date, I'll see when I come up for air in mid January and see what your movements are then. Were just moving into a new house so life is hectic to say the least.

Your best bet is to buy a TD5 filter kit from Evilbay.

IIRC, you have an auto, so you can get the auto filter as well, and the whole lot will cost you around $70 give or take.

Then just choose your oil, plenty of recommendations on here. If you are doing the auto as well, you will need around 6l of ATF.

Personally, i use the Nulon Fully Synth for the auto. It isnt cheap, but a damn sight cheaper than an auto rebuild.
