I watch American cop shows and cannot believe the way the cops approach cars over there - guns drawn, staying behind the car and telling the occupants to get out etc.
Maybe our society is heading the same way and in the future when we get pulled over the police will have guns drawn.
I don't believe in capital punishment but I guess there are always exceptions.

Police investigating the shooting death of a highway patrol officer in north-western NSW believe a white sedan found near the crime scene may provide clues.
Senior Constable David Rixon, a 40-year-old father of six, died after being shot several times during a gunfight outside a block of units in West Tamworth at about 8am on Friday.
Homicide Squad commander Detective Superintendent Mick Willing said a 1996 model white Holden Statesman sedan was taken from the crime scene for forensic examination.

SENIOR-Constable David Rixon was about an hour into his day shift when he pulled the car over.
It was a routine traffic stop, like thousands of others he had performed during more than 20 years with the police.
It was about 7.30am when he flagged the car down in suburban Lorraine St in West Tamworth and began speaking with the two men inside.
Both of them were known to police.
Unexpectedly the situation escalated as one of the men became aggressive, senior police sources said. Sen-Constable Rixon managed to get one handcuff on the man but, as he was trying to secure the second cuff, the man allegedly pulled out a gun and shot the officer twice - in the chest and abdomen.
Witnesses said they saw the officer struggling on the ground with another man, and then doubled over in pain.
"There was a lot of yelling and struggling ... that's why I came out," said a resident who gave his name as John.
Despite bullet wounds to his chest and stomach, Sen-Constable Rixon didn't give up the fight. As he yelled at residents to "Stay down", police sources said the officer returned fire and struck the alleged shooter in the upper body. The second man, who was uninjured, fled in the car. Ambulances and other police rushed to the scene, where paramedics fought to save the officer's life.
Flo Miller was returning home from an early morning shopping trip.
"They were trying to revive someone on the ground, I don't know who it was - whether it was the policeman or who is was," she said.
After the injured man "muttered" the name of the man he was travelling with, police arrested the second man at a house in nearby Park St a short time later.
The alleged shooter was yesterday transferred to the John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle, where he remained under police guard while undergoing surgery for his injuries.
Sen-Constable Rixon, 40, died yesterday morning at Tamworth Base Hospital.
The day after the NSW Police Force proudly celebrated 150 years of service and remembered 250 officers killed in the line of duty, one more name has been added to the roll of honour.
His heartbroken wife Fiona and his six children spoke of their "wonderful" husband and father: "David was a wonderful father, husband and police officer. He was all of that, but so much more - he was a real person and a great man who will be missed by us all. We will never forget him."
In the tight-knit country town, Sen-Constable Rixon was a well-known and respected member of the community, which is up in arms about what they see as an increase in crime in the area.
A 17,000-signature petition complaining about crimes such as theft, break and enter, car theft and anti-social behaviour is due to be debated in parliament on May 10.
Police last night praised Sen-Constable Rixon's bravery. Police Commissioner Andrew Scipione was told that one of his men was down as the ambulances rushed to the scene. He flew to Tamworth, declaring it a "terribly sad day" for the whole force.
Mr Scipione and senior police visited Sen-Constable Rixon's wife and children, before comforting colleagues at the police station.
"Our hearts and prayers go out to his family and colleagues," Mr Scipione said.
Sen-Constable Rixon joined the police in 1990. He worked in Gunnedah, Newcastle and Lake Macquarie before moving to Tamworth.
A relative said he was the sort of man who worked hard simply because he loved providing for his family.
"That made him happy - when they were happy," the relative said.
Tamworth Golf Club's Darren Burger said Sen-Constable Rixon "was a good bloke who enjoyed his golf and his family".
"He was really down to earth. He just had all his priorities right," he said.
Police Minister Michael Gallacher said Sen-Constable Rixon was "a much-liked and well-respected police officer, community member, and a dedicated family man" whose death would have a significant impact on the community.

Officer killed in shooting knew suspect was a banned driver
A HIGHWAY patrol officer fatally shot during a routine traffic stop had pulled over the offending vehicle as he knew its driver was banned from being behind the wheel, the Herald can reveal.
A veteran officer with 22 years experience, Senior Constable David Rixon was gunned down in a suburban street in Tamworth on Friday morning, shortly after he had stopped a 1996 model white Holden Statesman.
He died a short time later, and the 47-year-old man police believe was both the vehicle's driver and the shooter, Michael Alan Jacobs, is still under guard in hospital with a gunshot wound.

Mr Jacobs, who is known to police, was charged late last year with driving while disqualified from holding a licence.
It is understood the investigation is exploring the likelihood Senior Constable Rixon's knowledge of this fact led him to stop the vehicle at about 7.30am last Friday. Detectives were yet to speak with Mr Jacobs.
Meanwhile, Senior Constable Rixon's wife, Fiona, yesterday said she and her children were ''struggling with the reality of losing the cornerstone of our family'', saying she had lost ''the best part of herself''.
''David was my soul mate and my rock,'' Mrs Rixon said in a statement. ''His mother has lost her only child and our children have lost the most amazing and supportive father any child could ask for. This senseless tragedy has left a huge hole in our lives that can never be filled or replaced.''
Mrs Rixon said her family was extremely private and needed time to process the tragedy, but were particularly grateful for the condolences offered from far and wide.
''We would like to express our sincere thanks and appreciation for the help, support and expressions of sympathy and condolences offered from our police family, the Tamworth community and beyond at this devastating time in our lives,'' she said.
''We as a family have lost a most treasured husband, father, son, friend and workmate. The City of Tamworth has lost a passionate and dedicated police officer. I have lost the best part of myself.''
Mr Jacobs remains under police guard in John Hunter Hospital, in a critical condition.
Senior Constable Rixon, 40, will be farewelled with full honours at a funeral in Tamworth on Thursday.
An internal police critical incident investigation is under way by the homicide squad, examining the circumstances that led to the apparent shoot-out in a quiet street.

LOCALS used to complain that when Senior Constable David Rixon first came out of the Police Academy in 1990 he was so keen, he would book his own grandmother if he had the chance.
But friends said he soon mellowed to become the archetypal country cop - a professional officer with close ties to the community where he went to high school.
The life of the 40-year-old father of six ended on Friday morning. He was shot during an armed confrontation with the occupant of a white Holden Statesman sedan he pulled over in a Tamworth street.
Story continues below Senior police yesterday said they were no closer to establishing the circumstances leading to his death.
Video footage from the camera in Senior Constable Rixon's patrol car did not clearly capture the event. The alleged shooter, Michael Alan Jacobs, 47, has not been questioned. He is in Newcastle's John Hunter Hospital in a critical but stable condition after six hours of surgery for gunshot wounds.
Yesterday, Senior Constable Rixon's wife, Fiona, and their children were at home being visited by friends, family and police, including deputy commissioner Nick Kaldas.
Dozens of residents left bouquets of flowers at Tamworth police station yesterday and held a one-minute silence outside.
Oxley Local Area commander Clint Pheeney described him as an ''absolutely fantastic police officer''. ''That makes the tragedy even more so, the fact that we have lost one of our best,'' he said.
A family friend, Ken O'Brien, said it was a ''very sad day for Tamworth''.
''When he first came out of the academy he was like a lot of them, you know, book their own grandmothers. But Dave settled down, he mellowed - he realised being a policeman was no different from being an ordinary worker, he just wore a uniform.''
Mr Kaldas said Task Force Fairfull was investigating the attack and officers wanted to speak to anyone who may have seen the Holden on Friday. He confirmed a second man interviewed had been released without charge.

THE man accused of fatally shooting Senior Constable David Rixon during a routine traffic stop had been caught driving while disqualified three times in the past 12 months, and was last year ordered by a court to remain on anti-psychotic medication.
Michael Alan Jacobs, 47, remains in hospital under police guard after he apparently opened fire on Senior Constable Rixon in Tamworth on Friday morning.
He sustained a single gunshot wound, but Senior Constable Rixon died a short time after he sustained a number of bullet wounds to his torso and chest.
The Herald can reveal Mr Jacobs's traffic record is under scrutiny by police, with one line of inquiry being that the pair had previously crossed paths during the course of the veteran highway patrol officer's work.
Mr Jacobs's condition had last night improved from critical to serious, but detectives had not yet interviewed him.
Mr Jacobs is a long-term disqualified driver but was arrested behind the wheel in November 2010, in Attunga, north of Tamworth. The case was not finalised until July 26 last year, when it was dismissed under mental health provisions.
The court papers note he was "discharged into the care of a responsible person" and, among other orders, required to "comply with [his] anti-psychotic medication regime".
But exactly one month later, on August 26, he was pulled over and charged by police for driving while disqualified, this time in South Tamworth. This charge was finalised in Tamworth on November 21 and he was given a good behaviour bond with no conviction recorded.
Two days before Christmas, Mr Jacobs was again allegedly caught behind the wheel, again in South Tamworth. He was on police bail, and that was not altered when he faced court on February 27 - just four days before he encountered Senior Constable Rixon.
He is due to face a hearing on March 13.
Senior Constable Rixon's wife Fiona and their children will be joined by hundreds of their extended police family tomorrow morning in a funeral with full honours.

A six-year-old girl has touched the hearts of police mourning a colleague by giving them her birthday cake, saying the officers "need this more than me".
Since the death of Senior Constable David Rixon, a father of six who was gunned down in a street in Tamworth on Friday during a traffic stop, the local station has been filled with bouquets of flowers and cards from the shocked community.
On Saturday morning a six-year-old girl marked her birthday by asking her mother to drive her to the station so she could give officers her cake, Tamworth duty officer, Inspector Kylie Endemi said.
"It was her birthday and she told her mum that the officers needed it more than her, so her mum brought her in," Inspector Endemi said.
"She carried the birthday cake in here and lifted it up onto the counter, which was taller than her, and basically said 'the police need this more than me today and I want you to have it'."
Inspector Endemi said officers had since been in contact with the girl's family to thank her.
The police station has been inundated with flowers expressing sorrow for the loss of a popular officer.
"It gets you a bit choked up and obviously their reaction was being completely overwhelmed by such a compassionate and caring act from such a little girl."
Tamworth police have also received donations which they will pass on to Senior Constable Rixon's family.
"We're just lost for words in terms of the support that's come from our community at this time," Inspector Endemi said.
Tamworth's Northern Daily Leader reported the story of the little girl, one of many displays of support and compassion.
A group of cowboys were also seen at the police station at the weekend, taking their hats off and bowing their heads in a minute of silence in front of a flag at half-mast.
Inspector Scott Tanner, who is relieving at Tamworth station, said detectives from Dubbo were called to Tamworth to assist local investigators.
He said Tamworth police station would effectively be run by staff from Sydney from Wednesday night until Friday, as local officers would farewell Senior Constable Rixon at a funeral on Thursday morning.
The 47-year-old man police believe was the shooter, Michael Alan Jacobs, is still under guard in hospital with a gunshot wound.
Senior Constable Rixon's wife, Fiona, yesterday said: "David was my rock and my soul mate".
"His mother has lost her only child and our children have lost the most amazing and supportive father any child could ask for," Mrs Rixon said.
"This senseless tragedy has left a huge hole in our lives that can never be filled or replaced."
"We would like to express our sincere thanks and appreciation for the help, support and expressions of sympathy and condolences offered from our police family, the Tamworth community and beyond at this devastating time in our lives."

NSW man charged with murdering cop
A man has been charged with murdering NSW police officer David Rixon.
Senior Constable Rixon, 40, was gunned down in West Tamworth about 8am AEDT on March 2 after pulling over a vehicle in Lorraine Street.
Michael Alan Jacobs, 48, was allegedly the driver of the car and the man who shot the father of six.
Jacobs also suffered a gunshot wound and has been in hospital in Newcastle under police guard since the incident.
He was charged with murder on Tuesday and refused bail, police said in a statement.
They will allege he acted alone and that the shooting arose from an attempt to submit Jacobs to a random breath test.
The matter will be mentioned in Newcastle Local Court on Tuesday afternoon.
