My wife just sold the last of the 307s....it was a great car and we never had an issue at all.
It was quirky and odd to drive and use compared to Jap cars and I struggled to easily find a comfortable driving position, and I'm only 5'9"....but I think that was mainly from being yelled at for adjusting the steering wheel up and out to suit me...LOL!!! Once you find the right position, it was great car to drive.....went like a rocket and could pick wheels off the ground...or so I've been told....:wasntme: The gear box was definately harder to get used to than any Jap manual that I've owned but once there...same again....great to drive!
It's frame was solid as hell. Doors sounded tinny compared to my D4 (not the Holden we owned at the time thou) but I think that was more to do with the fact that the panels were just attached to this very rigid frame....the front is nothing but plastic and alloy. Some folks may pooh pooh that but it's the same concept Euro sports cars have employed for years to save weight.
I found it's equipment levels and tech were better than Jap cars at the time.
I can't vouch for the 308 but if it followed on from what I owned, It would be great.
However....my wife sold it cause it was getting too small....14YO boy and 10YO girl.....and a 20KG mutt!!!

We may not realise in Australia where Peugeot is a small player that in Europe they are huge. Europeans make the best diesels too by far.

The AL4 autos used in the previous generation (307, 406, some Citroens) were not much good. They are now failing and require expensive repairs, in some cases costing more than the the value of the car. The ZF autos used in the V6's were more reliable. The 6-speed autos in the current generation haven't been around long enough to assess the reliability.
I have a petrol and a diesel 406, both manual.

I know a bloke who has a linnen business and he does about 400 kays a day six days a week. He had a Ford Tranist diesel and it was thirsty as hell and had lots of mechanical issues so he traded it on a Benz Sprinter.
He claims the gold he saves on the fuel bill covers the payments of the Benz.

I was informed today that she bought a Passat. It has a european auto which scares me now apparently. Thank god our 300 tdi auto D1's not european:p. Although i did get the auto rebuilt in it at 15 years of age(for no reason, only cause a mate is in the game, cost me a slab), very suprised it lasted that long:wasntme:

I love Pugs. I have had an old 505 Gti Wagon and I had people LOL when I would take them around a roundabout at un natural speed for the old girl, it handled so well. 3 things the french do the BEST. Suspension, front seats and Diesel engines. the 308 is very cool in the seating flexability, I wouldn't mind upgrading the wifes Zafira to a 308 Touring. let me know when you want to sell it I might be ready then.

ahh didn't buy it, bought a Passat:angel:.
Although the 308 was very nice to drive, and it hammered as well, and i did like its querkyness, it was unfortunately not quite big enough in the cabin area:(
