    peugeot 308

So Sally is looking at new/secondhand cars, after a lot of looking she's quite fond of the Peugeot 308 Touring wagon with the 2lt turbo diesel. Took it for a spin and was quite nice to drive, rather low which i'm not used to though.
So anyone have any feedback on them.

Cars of choice have been the Peugeot, VW toeurag, Mitsubishi Outlander platinum, Captiva (??).

Cars definately off the list are commodore, territory, and anything landrover()

Not having one myself I nevertheless know several people who drive Peugeots as either their personal means of transport or as company vehicles. All of them very comfortable and drivable and very frugal, especially in Diesel-guise. No major complaints to be heard from any of my mates who are driving one.
I haven't driven the 308, only the previous model and the one up the scale, the 408, and was impressed by both. If you want a practical, frugal and quite comfortable runaround car you could do worse than buying a Peugeot.

There are people who spend all weekend cleaning the car.
And there are people who drive Discovery.

SWMBO has a 307 wagon 1.6lt (manual) turbo diesel. Great little car. The pulling power of this little beast is phenomenal. Has been reliable for the last two years that we have owned (4 yrs old) ex lease vehicle. I think it is a bit tinny though and like the Golf is better.

A friend of mine has one, had a few issues at the start but they were due to the local dealer not having a clue

I reckon they're a great car, reasonably roomy, lots of torque, good economy.

But the full glass sunroof isn't very practical for QLD

Next door neighbour just traded his Territory for a Captiva Diesel, and he couldn't be happier. Not only is he saving a bundle on fuel, he reacons they are comfortable - even on long trip - just got back from Northern NSW in it. The only thing he is upset about is that he didn't do it sooner...

personally i would like the touerag (sp), i like the size, comfort, ride and tow capacity. It would have to be a Diesel aswell (and second hand of course).
BUT, this is not my car, but i do have to ride in it and drive it occasionally, so need a car that i at 6'4"ish, Sally, 2 boys, 2 dogs (big and little), 50l fridge can all fit in comfortably, and small amount of luggage.

    I hate car shopping

I have spoken to people who have the diesel and they have nothing but praise. Apparently they are incredible when it comes to fuel economy as they are absolute fuel misers.
A young lady I work with has a petrol but I am not sure of exactly what model it is, however she always seems to be having problems with the electrics on it and hence getting it towed. I don't know how many kays it has done either.

    Cheers, Mick.

Go for manual transmission in an european car if you are going to keep it for more than 3 years.
