they care for the money they make them and the way they taste...
If you don't "care" for your livestock you don't get good returns and reproduction rates and output just like any other job. So now we should wipe out all livestock and go vegan because the farmers don't care?

    yummy yummy caged eggs

80% of the eggs produced in Australia are from battery hens

    yummy yummy "boiler" chickens

only 10-15% of meat chickens produced are free range the rest live like this

    yummy yummy factory farmed bacon

90% of Australian pork products come from factory farms

    yummy yummy grain fed beef

while one third of Australian beef comes from feed lots like this one

Why do you keep going to the extreme end of the scale? No one was suggesting wiping out livestock and going vegan.

There's a whole 'god' thread in the soapbox if you want to pick a fight!

Actually kelly please re-read the posts(especially the one from benz on the 7/3, the last line or did you miss it? "if you stop eating animals you simply stop BREEDING THEM! " what does that mean in your mind?) when a vegan gets up on a "soapbox " and states that im more enviro- friendly if I dont eat meat and dont recycle drive a eco car compared to a omnivore like the majority you just ask the question that sends em screaming into the hills : What would happen if we all did IT? And you get either an emotive picture (see below) or no real answer at all as to what happens to the animals that are fed the 40% of the worlds grain if we decide to eat it instead.

What that quote means is: if fewer people consume meat, fewer animals need to be bred.

So far you are the shrill voice of madness in this thread (except perhaps Bob talking about eating a rugby team ). The only soapbox is the one you are on, banging on about vegans.

Benz's posts seem quite rational to me - I'm not about to give up meat, but I don't like the way a lot of meat animals are farmed either.

You'd better explain your point more clearly, using sentences, if you want people to understand what you are on about.

    Cheers,

    Adam

To me vegans are similar to homosexuals.

I have no problem with them as long as they don't try and recruit me.

But this thread looks a bit like a recruitment drive to me.

Probably the only thing right you've said in this thread. Maybe you're not as silly as you come across.
