Can't say I've ever seen this number of Bees beforeand very glad that I wasn't outside for too long, actually I only went out to get the pics but there were a few buzing quite close so I retreated. I have no idea what aggitated them but they did settle down eventually. I have been told that there is honeycomb in the hollow of the tree but I'm not going investigating.
There was a tree lopper last year who was going to try and get some until he looked into the hollow and saw the number of Bees in there - lets just say he got down very quickly
The speckles in the pictures that make them look poor quality are the Bees

LAND ROVER;HELPING PUT OIL BACK IN THE GROUND FOR 70 YEARSCARS DON'T GET ANY "GREENER" THAT.
they are relatively quiet and harmless while they are swarming
Unusual for this time of year
We have had a swarm move into a large hole in our grey gum in the back yard about a month ago and the resident parrots are not impressedwe think there is about 800 in this swarm,it's not unusual at about this time of year in this area. they are about 40ft up so will not be easy to shift, last year a swarm picked a mango tree branch about 12ft up so it was just get the bee man and bag them into a hive.
Are they native or European?
