A little bit quick i think.

POLICE say they are horrified a truck from a South Australian trucking company was able to travel up to 152km/h. It was one of 18 trucks found to have a tampered speed limiter when police pulled it over as part of joint operation in NSW, Victoria and South Australia.

Operation Overland was launched into Scott's Transport Industries after one of its drivers was clocked travelling at 142km/h on the Hume Highway at Mittagong on Monday.

Since then, 98 of the company's 322 heavy vehicles have been intercepted for mechanical inspection.

Seventy-one offences were detected, including 18 in which the speed limiters had been tampered with.

In the most extreme example, a truck found in the company's Mount Gambier holding yard had a cruise control rigged so it could travel up to 152km/h.

Trucks are not allowed to go over 100km/h.

Superintendent Stuart Smith said today he had been horrified at the speed at which the trucks were travelling.

He said steps had been taken steps to investigate the company.

Two trucks were also found to be overloaded and police have issued 67 defect notices.

"We need to make sure this is not a behaviour that is systemic," Supt Smith said.

Earlier this year, police swooped on Lennons Transport Services, in inner-west Sydney, where they discovered eight tampered trucks, including seven that had been modified to exceed the 100km/h maximum.

I'm surprised at Scotts. A mate of mine got a start with them recently, he pulled the pin in less than two weeks. The jigger broke down ten times, so it obviously didn't have time to reach top speed, be it 102 or 152kph.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

    Gee this is SO surprising!!!!
I have never seen a truck speeding or had one up my date when travelling at say 115KMh.
    NOT
I guess it has taken quite a few gory deaths for the cops to get serious and even then they don't appear to be serious. Oh its OK for trucks to angel gear to 115Kmh.

This lack of enforcement over 20 or so years in NSW has encouraged the culture of speed as with their CBs the drivers just seem to ignore all the rules and so it becomes a lottery .
And the GALL of the union rep to say its all the supermarkets' fault and the pollies to suddenly discover that trucks speed . Where have they been? of course a few of the Labor premiers including Carr and whats his name who usurped Iemma didn't even have a licence.

The F3 only got bypasses after Carr was stuck in a jam in his chauffeured car and then it took 11?years to implement.

Look I have no real argument with truckies speeding as long as they are sensible about it and don't "push" people who they think should get out of the way . BUT in my experience MANY drivers are just bullies who don't give a stuff about anyone.
    Regards Philip A

But a bloke I know well who lives in Mt Gambier, Scott's home town, showed me a phone video of his speed readout showing 183km/h from when he was crossing the Nullabor with a road train. He said his de-limiter mods were very popular with local truckies. I don't know if he's in gaol yet but the cops were onto him but couldn't pin him as his methods were deliberately hard to trace. He basically went into the ECU's and fiddled with the parameters and left a rude message for the transport inspectors.

Whats the problem all of sudden.
Every time I travel on the Hume between 1am and 4am the trucks
are cruising at 140 kph and this has been going on for a very long time.
I know when the trucks are doing this it is safe as houses to do the same thing as they are all talking on the CB and the cops are not around.
I think this was the reason that distance to distance average time cameras were brought in.( good for govt funds too)
I have no problem with trucks going a little bit over 100 kph to over take or to get a run up over the hill etc.
The problem is the bad driver who gets inpatient and carry on as cow boys etc.
many a time I have been cut off dangerously by a overtaking truck or pushed if I am driving a slow vehicle etc.
The few stuff it for the many.
If the do gooders are upset over the speeding and overiding of speed limiters, why have they not done any thing about it from day one and enforced the limiters.
Some decent roads for the trucks would help.....the pacific hwy is a joke if it wasnt so serious.
For every death on single lane and non by pass parts of the pacific hwy a polly should be chained to the middle of the single lanes until death( wouldnt take long)........some thing may get done.

I would as a truck driver go mad over time trying to put up with the city parking yards called major roads in sydney and then try to drive to brisbane a couple of times a week and back again.
