    Akubra hats

Afternoon all, I have a Akubra hat in a sand color, It has a dark leather strap around it, living in the tropics and wear the hat every day, the sweat has mad the dark strap leak/run on the brim, can anyone advice me on how to clean it up?
    Cheers

I leave mine, adds character to the hat, plus on the farm it gets knocked around anyway, has grease and dirt through it and it's a big wonky.

Natt leave it be, it shows someone wore it who worked and wasn't a show pony dude from the big city

I leave mine like it is as well. It is as it is. I got a darker brown one though. Mine has grease marks on it from fixing my disco with it on. When I sweat in it it stinks too. I guess if you wear a fur hat that's what you get!!

I like to leave mine also as it adds character and has great memories, I do try not to get too much dirt ect on it though as I do want it to last and look half decent but once you wearit in the rain a few time it all just evens out.... lol

I agree... Leave it dirty and worn.

I got a new one recently... A "territory"... Due to temporary lifestyle changes my old one's band shrunk so is now the wife's. I feel like a right tool wearing such a clean and nice hat. Especially as the wife has a more used one than me now!

    Thanks all

ThoBar, It may not be too late, Take the hat back from the missus If the hat get a little tight just cut the inside band either side, ( the band still stays there ) or get a hair cut....lol

I always buy a size larger than is needed and put strips of newspaper inside the band to make it fit. Then when the band eventualy shrinks I just remove some or all of the newspaper as required.
Saves getting a headache from having too tight a hat band.
