We won't be riding at night up there. Our missus' are thinking of tagging along now, so looks like we'll have a 'support vehicle' to carry some gear.

It all looked pretty good from 30 + thousand feet this morning :D

Spudboy, you'll be riding up through Roxby then along the Borefield to the Oodnadatta.....unless you have some preference to going via Maree. I do a trip to the Creek/Lake from queensland every year and neither track is ever what you'd call pleasant and both can be full of surprises. The early parts of the Borefield are usually atrociously corrugated and about 30km in you might find sandhills although the excellent rains have almost hidden them and tied the sand down. I think you have the perfect bike to do the trip and I jealously wish you luck.

Well, I think we'll probably head up on the other (eastern) side of Lake Torrens, and spend a night at Parachilna Gorge, as I have good memories of camping there when I was quite a bit younger. Maybe the Parachilna Pub if the girls come too.
Then, on to Maree and the start of the Oodnadatta Track.
Next place I'd like to stop at will be Muloorina Station which seems to have a good rep as a nice campsite (about 50Kms from Maree). From there it is a couple of hours up to the lake apparently.
Might come down the other side via Roxby on the way home. Haven't been to Roxby for 20 years, so I imagine I won't recognise it with all the mining development that's been going on.

sounds great. When you get to Maree and fuel and fuel up at the general store grab yourself a hamburger with the lot. Lyle, the owner is a good bloke and can fill you in on whats happening everywhere in the district, road conditions. He has a caravan park just down the road if you want overnight and will just help you with anything. When are you going?
