Do you have any preference to what type of LR you are after? A late 90's Disco TDI would be in your price range... Depends on what type and how many KM you would consider suitable. If you can scratch up a bit more, an early Disco II TD5 may be within reach...

Let your fingers do the walking and run a few searches on Car Sales and sites like that to get an idea of what is available in your price range.

Most of what is on offer on Car Sales seems to be priced quite highly, so there must be a fair amount of negotiation built into the asking price. Victorian cars seem to be in far better condition and considerably cheaper than Queensland.

Should be able to get a good model 300 tdi for that kind of dollars.

Just make sure you get someone that knows landies to go with you when you go to have a look.

    cheers

I'm in the same boat as you mate. I was originally looking for a diesel Freelander but they're rare and hard to get in my price range which is the same as yours. Checked out a 95 disco today for 6k and it was ok, could take the bullbar off and sell it to save more aswell. I'm in NSW, my dads friend has an old and a new disco and im going to try convince him to sell it lol

    Sure can...

workable tdi200 discos start at $1500

TDI 300 discos start at $2500

They wont be the model of reliability youd want tho, in those price ranges you;re looking at restos or parts donors.

I got the SWMBO into a "good enough" disco tdi300 for $5k about 18ish months ago now. I've since dropped about $1k in parts and servicing into it which included

Dual batts, 2x new tyres Timing belt, oil + filters and a few other bits and bobs.

That's because we have no beach driving here in Vic. I often see ads of interstate vehicles advertised and the seller includes photos of "them playing in the Surf", I would be hesitant on buying something that has been subjected to salt water
