    Sorry, had to be done...

Towed today. Left at the assessment centre after they wouldn't let me speak to an assessor about the replacement modded stuff I took the keys. Not half an hour later they called to ask if I had them. I said they could have them when I had a name and confirmed mobile number for an assessor supervisor I could call back to set up a meeting with on Monday morning. So that all happened and went well, meeting at 0900 Monday.

Then called back asking for the keys as it's parked (quite intentionally by the towie, he said it would get their attention) in the most inconvenient place where the trucks would have to take a double turn through the centre to get around. Had to pick up kids from school so couldn't get back before they closed. Most unfortunate.

On a brighter note I need to make a list of parts and part numbers of suitable replacement parts that I can tell need replacing and we'll compare on Monday and see how it goes. A pity they'll never get it aligned properly without castor correction. Must have damaged those radius arms too.

So today's meeting with the assessor went well. I get to make a list of what's required, part no's and suppliers. Have so far found that it's cheaper, and not to mention months quicker to buy direct from overseas and I can get stuff that the local importers don't carry. So next week visit panel beater, organise new front bar and snorkel, fitting, refinishing and painting.

Question, going for an xrox bar as they are the most readily available and my personal favourite for looks. have so far only seen them in black, if I have the option, what do you all think of getting it color coded?

Body damage wise there's not much to take pics of. Insurance with AAMI, Apart from taking a week to get to speak to someone who has half a clue and will listen to what it takes to return the car back to it's previous state. I can see some unfortunates ending up with half 'n half suspension from instances such as these.

So met with the panel beater today. They asked on behalf on the insurance company if I would consider taking a cheque to pay out for the repairs/components.

There's two possible scenarios from todays meeting.

One, they can avoid dealing with multiple repairers (panel beater/mechanic/suspension specialist/tyre service). They asked for a more detailed listing of repairs and parts required, plus labour costings for same.

Two, just pay out a statutory write off. If it is a stat w/o whats the deal with keeping the remains (have seen details before of not at fault being paid out and also keeping the wreck).

Hopefully I can get together a comprehensive list to cover everything I need and then get paid for it (plus fitting) and also keep the car as well.

So in parts I'm getting new QT arms/links etc Will try to get some watts link arms thrown in as well (supplier?). Probably need to overhaul if not replace the steering box. New snorkel, safari or mantec? Experiences/recommendations?

I'm open to all recommendations and suggestions

    Thanks

    J

Stat write off: Some insurance companies (not many) will allow you to buy the wreck direct, others you will have to go to auction and bid.

It will be deregistered and you will need to jump through hoops to reregister. (inspections and $$$).

Best to be avoided if possible IMHO.

Is this your insurance company or hers? if hers hit her for every thing you can and small claims at court if she argues you dont have to accept anything from her insurance company and they have no authority to write off your car
