Locked my breaks twice in the wet today, came within inches of hitting the bloke infront of me who decided to stop in the middle of the road. Tires probably to blame for that though!

Sorry Mate not tyres distance! if you nearly hit the person in front its more than likely you were travelling too close behind. more than often the person in front is in a newer car with better brakes etc, or perhaps your tyres are **** but you just have to accomodate that by increasing your gap for braking distance especially in the wet:)Quote:

You take Coffee Breaks... Your 4wd stops using BRAKES or when offroad and you hear a crunch it can be because something breaks..

I was more than 3 car lengths behind this guy...
I didn't stand on my BRAKES, these weren't panic stops...
I know my car, and I know my driving style.
If I was following too close I would have hit him.
The TYRES I run are shocking in the wet.
I'm sorry if I'm coming across as an "I know it all" P plater, but I was following at a safe distance.
The second time was pulling up to a red light...
This all sounds terribly conceited of me but that's not the way I drive.
It is possible, likely even that I exaggerated how close I was to him...

However in the interest as not coming across as arrogant, I shall accept what you say in that I was following too close. :angel:
I could do a test of the tyres in the wet if you would like proof? :D:p

3 car lengths is 3 seconds there or there abouts your should be 4 seconds between you and the car in front in the dry not the wet:p.Quote:

Are you going to fit the bullbar yourself? they are not hard and what your mate is saying about the chassis as im sure you are aware already is incorrect the landrover ladder chassis is well known for its strength.
you might have issues putting a bullbar on if you have the disco parked up on a cross axle because yes then you might have a bit of chassis twist:D
Yeah ill fit it myself. A few bolts, a bit of drilling, not worth $180 IMHO.
Ill do UHF + Aerial myself, and ill mount the lights but might leave the wiring up to a sparky.
And I should clarify- I wasn't blaming the tyres per se, rather I was saying they contributed :D driving around roundabouts just then you could feel them slipping.
Probably won't pass rego with these ones on...
And, unlike many bearing p plates, I can accept that I'm not God behind the wheel :D
So no reason for it to be taken as an attack.

make sure you put some pics up of it once its fitted....
Have you started a members ride yet? if not start one its a good way to look back on the car and the things you have done to it, its amazing the way the cars change over the time your own it...
Mine has changed heaps.......it was immaculate when I bought it, now its well lets just say it has character :D
