    Fitting a Bullbar

    Evening all.
Finally managed to sort out my bullbar from TRS
A mate of mine who's a diesel fitter has told me that it's unlikely to be able to bolt straight on, as (his words) "the chassis will have warped from daily use".
He said every bar he's had to fit as required some form of cosmetic surgery either to it or the car to make it fit....
Seems a bit odd to me...
Anyone have any issues fitting a bar themselves?
It's an ARB D2 winch bar by the way.
    Cheers

I hope you don't let him service your car
it's more like the second hand bar may have had a knock and is out of alignment. Usually if off a wreck the vehicle might have sustained enough damage to have it's chassis damaged and thus the bar also moved.
The risk one takes buying second hand

my daughters partner just bought a second hand ARB bar for his S2 TD5 Disco with 300k on the clock - so both very second hand - and it bolted strait on with no drama and no alignment issues and looks great/strait - hopefully yours will do the same so long as it has not come off a car that had a twisted chassis via an accident.......

You should not have any issues if your car and bar is straight as mentioned earlier.

With the ARB bar make sure you also drill and put in the vertical bolts as well as the normal two mounting bolts on each side.

The vertical bolts will stop the bar rotating on its mounts as I found out when mine where not fitted.

Cheers for all the replies guys.
He's a good bloke, just some of the things he says seem slightly.....odd...
@ Chris will I need to drill the mounts, or just the chasis for them?
Are the side mounted points already drilled, so it's just bumper off and bar on or will the mounting points need to be drilled?
    Cheers

When mine was done by a panel shop through repairs the 2 x bolt holes in each chassis rail where already there and they bolted the bar up using those.

The 3rd vertical hole in each rail needs to be drilled through the rail from what I recall, I only found out after I took the car to ARB and was shown the correct mounting instructions.

    bull bar

gday disco muppett. i removed the standard bumper from my 96 110 defender and installed a second hand ARB bull bar and it went straight on, all bolt holes matched, not a problem. could be luck of the draw.

Hope you didn't get my old bull bar.

(Crashed near Dubbo, bar could've ended up in Orange. I wasn't driving)

The bar will bolt on fine. I got one from TRS about 6 months ago fitted to a 2003 D2a. I reckon it's one mm lower on the right side than the left. Mind you that could be the panel
