    Awnings

    Looking to buy an awning now, so what do you guys have and what do you like/dislike about your awning? If you have pics that would be good too

    Ironman. Does the job but the poles are light gauge alloy and one bent, so I replaced it with a standard tent pole, which is heavier alloy.
    Storel to the morey is to always adjust the height so water will run off to a lower side and not pool.
    I like the idea of those Foxwings that swing right around the back of the vehicle, but they're pricey.

    fox wings look good but try putting one up or down in a moderate breeze buy yourself. I like the ezi awn awning, self retracting very easy etc

    I have a fox wing on a Disco 2 and its fantastic - great usable space and goes up and down in a trice. I've found putting up and down in a breeze is no problem, I just need to change the technique slightly.

    Tigerz11 have some inexpensive ones, of which I have ordered one. They are moving to Lilydale this weekend, so can't see one in person until next Monday. In my opinion the side pull out ones are better for my usage, as opposed to the bat winged ones. Lots of wind up here on the coast. Talk to someone who has one before you purchase any of the winged ones, because they are apparently difficult to set up with one person especially in any kind of wind. In the past, I have just used a canvass awning which is attached to my roof racks by means of a track. Used old tent poles, and just rolled it up, and tied it off. Have gotten tired of having nasty creepy crawlers drop on me when I unroll it, as there is no cover. This is why I am changing my set up.
    Good Luck in your search,

    Ken

    Is this the kind of dance we are likely to see from you when this happens?

    Foxwing on a D2a .... excellent product. Plenty of space undercover. Covers side & rear of vehicle. Zips up to the Oztent RV-5 we use. Can go up/down in windy conditions BUT that is a two person job.

    Pic's here ===>>> http://www.aulro.com/app/showgallery.php?cat=1096

    I have a cheap $200 ebay jobba from a guy out of a shed down near Oakleigh. He actually threw it in when I bought a roof top tent off him. Never been a problem always happy to have it, more so in Summer for shade than Winter for Rain funnily enough. I also have a $50 tent style stick on rear one from Rays outdoors that wraps around the rear door. A bit fussy to put up, but for the price a real bargain shelter.

    Checkout Tigerz11.com.au he has side and rear ones (just bought a couple!) real cheap... and a foxwing style for around $350. Cousin just put one of these ones on his 80 series and is very happy to date. He can set up solo on a nice day, but in wind reckons its best to do a 2 person set up.

    Will add photo's soon.

    Very simple DIY Single 6' x 8' size scaleable awning: 2min set up cost less than $100. Tarp has multiple uses. It's either cantilevered self supporting, or in a breeze the poles can be rearranged and pegged in place...
