MUST SEE is for the original BLUES BROTHERS movie, fantastic stuff... (but Blues Brothers 2 (bb2000) was a terrible thing...)
Blues Brothers, I have a copy on VHS and Beta!! (sad isnt it, I also have my graduation video on beta and cant find a player since mine died (years ago!)
VHS will be the same very soon :( )
Donald Duck DUNN was playing with Murph and the magic tones, in the 'Armarda Ball room' his first line is:
(once you know its coming you'll hear it!)
"you're kidding"
(I won beer with that fact! :) ) :p
then same place:
"Jake ain't lying though. We had a band powerful enough to turn goat **** into gas-o-line." :D
later in the movie they're playing in "Bobs Country Bunker" Donald answers when they start to play RAWHIDE ,
"A, its a good country key" and in the carpark "Why not? if the **** fits wear it!"
my favourite line in the whole movie is from Elwood...
"It's a 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses."
Jake answers, "Hit it!"
The Blues Brothers is far and away my favourite movie.. can you tell? :)
The idea formed from skits on "saturday night live" in america, and was written by Dan aykeroyd and john landis. Most (if not all) of the band members played in the Saturday Night Live band and were therefore already friends with James Belushi and Dan Aykeroyd..
absolute boatload of cameos, look for frank oz (screw), peewee herman(waiter at Chaz Paul), steven spielberg (cook county office), steve lawrence(in sauna), john landis (policeman-they broke my watch (1st time)), twiggy (as herself at servo), Charles Napier (tucker from good ol boys), Kathleen Freeman (jerry lewis movies) (the penguin(nun)),
Fantastic singing appearances by James Brown, John Lee Hooker, Cab Calloway, Ray Charles and Aretha Franklin. (Chukka Khan is also apparently in front of the chior but that I cant confirm is true!)
REECE get off your backside and hire this movie, its great!
(prepare to rock and to laugh - not a kiddies movie)
<<<EDIT>>> (HAD TO LOOK UP FOR FULL NAMES OF A COUPLE !)
Band members:
John Belushi as "Joliet" Jake Blues, (check the knuckles), Dan Aykroyd as Elwood Blues,(check the knuckles)
