I was a fan of Cooper ST's until recently. On a trip from from Perth to Adelaide in May this year, I had two of them delaminate.
First tyre that blew had done about 80,000 km, but still a few mil of tread left before wear bar. Second tyre had only done about 40,000 as this was used as the spare.
Car was lightly loaded, with ambient temperatures in low to mid 20's with pressures of 40 PSI.
First tyre to go, was 5 km north of Norseman. I felt a slight vibration in vehicle, and thinking front drive shaft problem as the tyre delaminated.
Second tyre was East of Ceduna, with no warning, other than a sudden loud bang.
Both tyres had most of the tread removed from the carcass, with the flap of tread causing extensive damage to right rear of vehicle.
Ironically, I was looking to put on a new set of tyres, of which the new Cooper ST Maxx were on list. After this problem I went and got 5 BF Goodrich KM2's. There is no way I would use or recommend Coopers again.

you could turn it inside out and make it into a swan...then you could sell it.

How 70's! :Rolling:
I'd forgotten about those horrid tyre swans that used to be everywhere.
-
I'd give it a coat of tyre black first...

haha looks just like my cooper STs.
Seriously, I don't know how they have not got themselves into many class actions.

Does the wheel come with it?
