Mysterious flat batteries

whats the frequency on the FOBs for the alarm/access?

If they have a decent smart phone or iphone...

install and run the apps for bluetooth signal monitoring (one I used to use on my old mio windows CE phone would permit me to setup for passive only, I cant find a modern version that has the same list on the can) and it would record all the activity until the phones battery went flat OR the memory card went full.

run that and it should give you the timings for any activity thats happening, including when things that are being active go inactive.

Is the smartmeter inside the garage?
What are the walls made of?
If it's on the outside, and brick or fibro, can he try putting a 2 sheets of roofing iron leaning against the wall on the inside where the meter is next to each other overlapping, to see if it helps?
If it's on the inside (who knows?) can he wrap it thickly in aluminium foil (being carfull there is nothing live of course!)
Just to see if it's the culprit.

I know nothing about any of this but can this bluetooth business be isolated, pulled out and be put in the bin ?
Sounds like all of that sort of crap is more trouble than it is worth.
Can these vehicles be locked, unlocked with a key and these fob thingy's also be put in the bin ?

My Bro has a P38a and and has ongoing problems with the fob thing.
I asked him: why not just unlock, lock the doors with the key. Go around to unlock the passenger door for Cheryl like I do.

Hi Oldbod... I am also of the 'old school' ;) ...there's no external keyhole on the passenger's front door in the P38...

The old question: is it "causal" or "coincidental" ?
Answer: As it's unlikely the "authorities" will let you shut the meter down then perhaps one needs to either disconnect the RF receiver in the D4...or cover it with alfoil (= Faraday cage) and check for a difference...

Ta, I did not know that.
So the fob is absolutely vital and even the drivers door wont open with a key, and none of these new fangled thingy's will work without a bluetooth.
What the heck is a bluetooth anyway ?

My Disco has none of these things, what am I missing out on ?
None of the electrics on my Disco ever stopped it, at least not since i installed You beauties bosch goodies !!!
Never had a problem at the chemist either.
I also doubt that it has anything to do with emmisions or economy !!

I'm with you Olbod... Even with my RRC Vogue, I never use the Thingy, much easier to use a ... KEY. Never worry about a battery going flat, or Thingy falling of the key-ring, or breaking... or getting drowned.

But if I lock with the Thingy, the car must be unlocked with it. Worse still, the Thingy enables the interior ulstrasonic alarm... which embarrases my pet spider when she sets off the horns late at night.

Plus, with my antiquated Classic, all doors unlock with the driver's. (Well, the front Pax tries,,, succedds 40% of the time... :twisted:)

My Bean and his padlock are looking good.....
