2006 Defender: Purchased New - Clocked 159,500 Kms.
Tombie Chip, ASE Intercooler fitted.
Issues: New clutch fitted. Rear diff was replaced at 8,000 and again at 60,000 and finally replaced with a Salisbury diff at 100,000kms.
The cast metal canister holding the "spinning" oil filter was cracked and replaced.
Manifold popped a couple of studs/bolts (I was pushing it and I mean thumping it) and needed a bit work on it.
It is well-serviced - as it should be.
I have a 2002 Discovery Td5, bought it with 91,000 miles on the clock & she now has 171,000 done & still pulls like a train. I bought it in November 2008, but I only started using it in January 2009. Got it serviced when I bought it & was told that there was a slight weep from the steering box, that never gave any problems. Diesel pressure regulator & the wiring harness on the injectors had to be replaced at around 97,000 & 110,000 miles respectively. One airbag got a pin hole on it, new airbag €180 for 1, complete kit to fit springs €135, guess which option I went for!
Needed roll bar bushes for the DOE a couple of years ago & I managed to get a full set of poly bushes at a good price so the whole lot got fitted. Front discs have been replaced & rear ones are being done soon.
Apart from that lot it's been serviced every 12,000-15,000 miles.
Biggest expense with it is diesel, she only does about 25mpg, but she will go anywhere I want too, & even a few places I didn't want to go to :o
Oh, I also replaced a fog light (slight off roading mis-adventure) & a few interior panels after setting fire to it during conversion, but that's another story.....
I'm delighted I bought it, I have spent a good bit on t over the years but it has given me a lot of mileage & still going strong.
2006 Defender 152000 k's. Regularly serviced with just the harness being replaced.
Should be putting around another 10000 on it next month on a little back country jaunt.
EU3 2004 discovery 2. Bought it with 115,000km on the clock 2 years ago. Now has 144,000.
The service book was stamped but i don't think it was 'cared for' by the previous 1 owner. I now service every 10000km.
Have had the joy of replacing Fuel pressure reg, fuel pump, injector seals, MAF, injector harness and am about to do the exhaust manifold. All done myself. Have also got rid of the EGR and put silicone hoses on the intercooler.
When I drained the sump after doing the injector seals it had 14L of 'oil' in it- it's only supposed to take 8 ish. eek!
Was getting a bit over replacing stuff but it now runs beautifully and I have full confidence in it.
99 defender bought 2 years ago with 185000 on clock had heaps of stuff done , new head , injectors , glow plugs , injector loom , starter motor , egr removed , wheel bearings , radiator cleaned , new thermostat new hoses , transfer case rebuilt , probably some more cant remember at mo . That doesnt include modifications done to it either . Hope i get a run out of it now cost me big $$$$$$ but its great fun off road .
Helped a mate replace his Disco's TD5 (2002 with 250K) in December last year after we drained 20 odd liters of oil/diesel from the sump. We thought we'll do the injector seals first but it didn't cure the problem, we didn't open it up but the guys in the know said it woud need a new head and a lot of internal work done. We got a replacement from a 2004 Disco with 120K on the clock. Now he's a happy chappy again.Quote:
