Looks like others have already thought of doing something similar Rovercare. ...
It's not an uncommon modification. It worked out a lot cheaper and better to put these in after the 3L turned into a hand grenade. If you could pick a Patrol up with a blown engine you could get a bargain.
    Cheers, David.

Very different actually, those chev v8s are tubs of pop, I already have had one in an rr classic

Duramax is a common rail 6.6 vnt turboed Isuzu derived engine, that with a tune, exhaust and large intake will make 35psi, 550hp and 644679newton kilometers of torque

I've not come across one rover owner ready to cough up 20k upfront for anything, that would be a deposit, so yes a d3 can be built, but one off conversions are just not viable

Well its happening, went for a hack in a duramax GU today, now thats impressive!

This is turning up tomorrow Nissan GU Ti Patrol 1998 | eBay

And I just need to get some stuff sorted and auction off my collection

Its a sad time, but unfortunately with family and business the commitments have changed

I'll still be lurking here, as it is a fantastic forum with fantaastic people, might even have a build thread if it can be stomached

Ecpext some ebay adds, with lots of Isuzu and rover type stuff

Yea I'll try to source Allison 6 speed then buil it to sustain the 550hp tune, drove down in another dudes 4.5 auto ti, my god, it's like a stock 3.5 727 auto 1:1 high range classic, hideously slow!

With the dudes Duramax all it did was make a dull roar, then it all makes sense when you see the boost gauge sail well past it's 30psi max and the speedo going 130-140-150.... Impressive with 35" tyres and a heap of crap to service earth moving stuff on the back

Although, overcoming the dreaded Nissan shimmy is also a must!
