If I had the $$ I would join the cue and have you do one for me as well.

I love my landy and have no intention of getting rid of it but a duramax and Allison in a GU with associated fruit, hell yes. I could then take the landy off the road and turn it into the hybrid I have always dreamed of doing.

Good luck with it and as the others have said please post your build I would be very interested in following your progress.

My God, this forum is depressing, seeing how the other half live. I've been doing a very painful rolling rebuild of an old stock Rangie to be our family 4wd! And I thought that was getting expensive . . .

It's funny, Matt, with all the posts of yours I've read over the years I was convinced you were single and lived in a shed made of flattened-out beer cans.
At any given point in time, somewhere in the world someone is working on a Land-Rover.

Best of luck with the conversion. The GU is a good solid base, and I love the engine/transmission combination!!! I know it's been stated enough (so sorry), but I really would love to see some pictures along the way if you get a chance.

Your dilema is similar to what I had a few years back when we found out the 4th was on his way. I ended up fitting a front centre seat into my Defender, and buying the missus a dull boring Prado.

Funniest thing is I enjoy driving the Prado and it has served us well for a number of years now, but like JC my old girl still gives me a smile everytime I get back into it. Even yesterday when I had to bleed to clutch again (for the 100th time) before I could go anywhere

    Cheers
    Chris

Bought my missus a prado feel them same about it as well. Love the landy but want to put an old body on it as I love the old shape, but need to find a non original doner (holden or ford motor fitted) as I couldn't pull apart an original.

as I wrote would love a Nissan tray back set up like what Matt is doing, guess I am just going to have to get work in the LNG field for the $$ to get the toys

So I now own a 1998 GU Ti, with 35" km2's (ick) 2" ironman lift, rear draws and a few other odds and ends, the 4.5 is hideously slow

Also, on the shed floor, an LLY Duramax, with 5speed allison

    A sold 120"

    A P38 on ebay, started at .99c

and lots of other odds and ends sold and still to sell

Unfortunately I still have a backlog of work to do, so no days off for the next month or so and still growing

So sometime when the fair weather gets here I should have the bits and start the transplant so long as the work dies a little

Its almost all over, 10 years of modified rovers

And like a keep telling people, the Nissan is only something to wrap the Duramax in

This happened at the start of the month, but 7 days, 14+ hours/day has halted progress, hopefully things will settle late next month and can get back into it

Now hang on a mo' - that ain't no Land Rover, and that shed ain't made of beer cans. I am so disappointed.

No, really, this will be an interesting thread. How long are planning on keeping your Nissamax until you get itchy for something else???

Oddly enough, I was in a pile of squashed cans and cigarette buts until I cleaned up yesterday, it's been hectic with so much paperwork!

Who knows how long, but a fair while I think, I'd like to do some shed building, got a 5x9 to build and a 4.2x6 to stand, then concrete the driveway which is huge, finish some house renos, then extend the big shed 4m by the full 22m, so it will be the last toy for a while
