I think i swim spa would be great, i'm trying to talk the wife into that instead of a pool, i live to far south the warrant one. But as you said, a spa gets used more often, but they are exxy. Heat pump with back up heater would be the go, with the heat pump, for every kw of power consumed, 5kw of heat is produced, or something like that, so very efficient. Look into ionizers and ozonators for treating the water, basically chemical free.
when i get around to getting a new one i'll run a heat pump with solar heating as well.![]()

I also don't have to worry about the council, as the area is close to a seasonal creek, with all the overlays involved, and the spa is "portable" I know from owning a pool, that it got used on hot days to cool off, but we used the attached spa quite often. I am more of a relax, and float kind of guy, and the swim area can be cooler than the spa. It is sounding logical.... Is there anything I am missing. Has anyone here had one, and what brands should I look for, or features such as heat pumps should I consider.
