the mistreatment of an icon

I took delivery on a pallet of my 460,000km 4BD1 after it had been sitting in a shed in WA for 3 years, It then sat in my workshop for 6 months or so while I got the trans adapters made etc.

After I fitted the engine to the Rangie, I was wiring it up etc when I managed to touch the starter solenoid momentarily. Well, it started right up and ran with no exhaust connected, 3 to 4 year old fuel, cut fuel lines, no glow bla bla bla.

No I certainly don't hate the Puma, at all. it seems that the difference between old and new technology is being hilighted here, I love driving the Puma as much as my County, but I just choose to own a County

I wouldn't worry too much about it,nothing more than the same old crap.Today I've been busy starting my trip plan for January,Talawana to Windy Corner,then the Gary across to the Alice following Len Beadells footprints and then down to Adelaide in my over priced people mover,I'd ask you to come along but your 110 would be a liability. Maybe not.

The new product might actually be worth having given that they're not planning on taking an already well developed item and screwing it up with little things like putting the Tcase in at the wrong angle, tilting the gearbox so the drive flange operating angles dont match up.

My Puma was parked in the garage overnight, and this morning it started straight up.

True story.

Well I was about 1.5 feet away and to say I was surprised was an understatement. Not being familiar with the 4BD1 fuel shutoff at that stage I rushed around to the other side of the engine and pulled any lever I could fiind until it stopped:D

Wasn't actually too loud, the turbo was attached but there was no dump pipe so it was just a shock that it was running more than a noise issue.
