Anyone up for no water in the cooling towers part two?

No,been a big day, maybe tomorrow

    Another comedy of errors.

Even the best author couldnt make the story up I am sure.

I just hope they have water in them for at least the next two days

Gee,I don’t know the brand, but they are not wood, that’s for sure. Not many of those around anymore, haven’t seen one for years.

I know what the badge on the side looks like, but the brand has dropped from my grey matter.

We have had them rebuilt a couple of times,I use a local cooling tower mob to do it.

Tenders to replace them are coming out soon.

    I interigated the small chiller yesterday,50 000 hours,217 000 starts.

Proof the controls don’t work properly,I wonder how long the compresser contacters will last, star delta starts.?

Oh well I suppose we just keep fixing things.

Not too many Star/Delta starts anymore.
Either part winding start or VSD

And I noted the chiller had tripped at a certain supermarket last night.
Just in time for the weekend.
Seeing as they don't believe in water treatment, what are the odds it's an evap flow fault with some gunk in the pressure switch?

I'd forgotten SD. The big piston Pressure Pump here was SD. Id have to switch it on & wait for the right moment to throw the switch. No idea why it never had a sequence timer but that was probably really old School stuff.

Anyway it went in the bin when we installed a 3 PH bore pump. Old Pump has since been taken by a local bloke for a "One day I'll restore it" project. Better than going for scrap.

Paul. If they are not timber construction., why do they need rebuilding? What wears out? The Marleys used to have the baffles replaced after a few years, fibre glass not a problem.

White Engineering here used to make a decent Steel Hot Galvanised/Zinc Sprayed range of Towers mainly for Ammonia but could be used elsewhere if needed.

Rick, it looks like the weather there is going to give you more strife than Ned Kelly. Or has.

Ah, that's what happens when fridgies play around with electrician stuff!

The original old star delta starters had a handle stuck out the side, most of them with a nice knob like a gearstick. They also had a mechanical interlock that would only allow the handle to go into the star position first. And really sophisticated ones also had an UVT coil and latch.

Not surprising that I now need a walking stick to get around.

Trying to locate info for White Engineering & found this Historic Docco instead, on the 1895 installation by Wildridge & Sinclair of a Linde Refrigeration System for Adelaide's Historic Urrbrae House in Urrbrae.

    What a difference a 100 Years makes.

    Read on dear reader.
