Fridgies here work inside them routinely & I used to, but never had any serious concerns about safety. What a load of old ballcocks!

If it had been a commissioner of any sort doing a routine inspection, he/she would have been accompanied by all sorts of other ranks (read, Hangers Onners) & if he/she had died there would be a resounding outcry from SAPOL (read... bigger than this) & action taken or maybe not, if they had ****ed up.

This makes me soooo bloody angry. Useless bastards!

"Enforceable Undertaking,"? Does that mean if you kill somebody whilst speeding in your car, you "undertake" not to speed again, all charges will be dropped?

I take it say that if they don't carry out the changes that have been ordered they will be reported to the cops who obviously won't take action against themselves. Sort of like a Suspended sentence I think, not that I have any personal experiences of said bull****.[smilebigeye]

As per Qld regulations,the definition of a confined space.


(a) is not designed or intended primarily to be occupied by a person; and
(b) is, or is designed or intended to be, at normal atmospheric pressure while any person is in the space; and
(c) is or is likely to be a risk to health and safety from:
(i) an atmosphere that does not have a safe oxygen level; or
(ii) contaminants, including airborne gases, vapours and dusts, that may cause injury from fire or explosion; or
(iii) harmful concentrations of any airborne contaminants; or
(iv) engulfment;



So i can't see how a cold or freezer room is a 'confined space',apart from possible oxygen levels,but all freezer rooms are not sealed as they have relief ports.

But those only open to the outside when the door is closed creating a pressure but an Inuit (Eskimo) may live quite happily amongst the frozen NZ peas & beans although he might have a problem storing his Kayak. On end I reckon would be the best way & he'd need to leave his pet Seal outside.[biggrin]

Did the unfortunate chef die from the cold,or lack of oxygen?
Or did she slip over and couldn't get up?

Going into a cold or freezer room,certainly isn't an area normally low on oxygen.
