    Ridiculous.....
Found 30 systems short of gas, many cycling on LP.
    Nearly all Copeland Semi's.
15 of them are knocking or rattling,or shaking.

    And thats just the start
    Noice.

Hopefully the client recognises that you fixing stuff and the $ it costs now are saving them money in the long term.
Some just don't recognise the value in preventive maintenance.

Yes i know, some customers have no friggin idea about preventative. maintenance, some are excellent, and even ring when they here a noise coming from a piece of equipment.

This site has a bit of history, and the guys on site did an audit on all the equipment and know its badly run down.
One of the main maintenance guys,in a past life was a fridgie,he couldn't believe the mess it was in.

What we also often do is drag them over and show them the issues we find,or video it with phone.

So i think we will be fine.

and yes, Cool Dynamics do the service breakdowns on that particular site at the markets but the client wanted us to takeover. The chillers are ClimaVeneta's so warranty is us/Mitsubishi.
We've just re-employed a bloke on the GC to look after Brisvegas, it's too far from Ballina, spreads us too thinly.
I was looking after a ClimaVeneta chiller plus a/c's for a liquor wharehouse at Carole Park, it was a PITA, basically wrote my day off.

Yes that travel is a killer, the bloody traffic in the last 5yrs has increased heaps.

We do a bit on the coast, but only cos its part of a contract we have for some Brisbane sites.

Although there are whispers of CBus stadium going the same way as the gabba, refrig wise.

We are supposed to be doing some breakdowns at that site(markets) as well, but its all DX cold/freezers.One of the boys is good friends with someone there. But i haven't chased it up as we are flat out at the moment. The induction, paperwork there is a PITA,its easier to get into(and out) one of the max security jails. That Cool Dynamics are a pretty big outfit.

We really need another tech, but finding a good one is impossible.

Ahem, (clears throat) Being an old Fridgie as well as a 2 x Land Rover ('66 2A & '95 D1 Facelift) family from way back &, since I turned 16 & began my Apprenticeship & now 82, (you work it out if you can be bothered ). although I gave the game away in 2000 when the flippin' GST raised it's ugly head, I find much pleasure in reading these posts & others experiencing the same or similar problems of yore. No, really.

Just goes to show there 'aint nuthin' new in the world, well as far as the Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Industry is concerned.

Suffice to say, "I've been there & probably done that" but on more antiquated & less sophisticated equipment than what you blokes are working on today. Rick & I have exchanged many reminiscences over time so have been able to compare.

Maybe AULRO could have a Fridgie Section?

Anyway, weirdly, I do enjoy reading of your exploits & still learning of new things in the Industry although it ain't going to do me much good.

My Profile shows a Join Date of 1970 but that cannot be correct as I didn't even have a computer until I retired in 2000 so I haven't a clue when it actually was.

It's crazy trying to get in there!
I had done my induction but not a card, had to do some really fast talking to get on site.

We really need another tech, but finding a good one is impossible.
How mucha you pay? One for the fridgies

It is bloody hard getting someone, and we've shed some dead wood in the short time I've been here but re-hired one bloke as there's just no one competent available.

Supermarkets and chillers sort them out.
Hell, even a freezer room does!

It was a steep learning curve for me getting up to speed on Emerson's E2 and Danfoss's controllers in the supermarkets.
The Danfoss isn't as intuitive as the Emerson E2, and you can do so much more with an E2 more easily.

Our staff are volunteers,so pay isn't that good

Yes,Freezer rooms sort out the sheep from the goats.....,particularly for fan mechanics,as the boys call the split guys, and lazy AC guys, that do those big sites, just doing servicing all day, every day.

I would have no hope with those large supermarket systems and controls as we don't do any.
Even that CO2 stuff would have us stumped.

We have more than enough to do as it is,doing what we know without getting into trouble with stuff we don't know.

    Now for a trick question.

Freezer room, good old MNDE29,frosty on the lower third of evap only.Low back pressure, frosting back to compresser.
    Defrost and heaters working fine.

Partially blocked distributer,or some of the spiders from the distributer are blocked.
I can't remember ever seeing this before.

New evap going in,last of the Buffaloes, there are no more
We use heaps of them, they have shut the factory in Australia.
They will now come from Chine, made by Gutner, rebadged.
Pipes out the left as well,so a PITA for most replacement jobs.

Apparently the bitzer compressors and units all come from overseas anyway so no changes.
