Too right, if had to drive from Ballina to Brisbane every day, I'd pro'ly just drive thru the railings of the bridge over the Tweed River and be done with it!

Yes, seen a blocked distributor, had it on an A/C, had the boys in Canberra stumped last year so they called the old bloke in. [emoji23]
I think it was like a hydraulic/oil lock, I remember having it years ago on either a coolroom or freezer but it was too long ago now but pretty sure I just used the blow lamp on it to clear it. It was like the oil had waxed up.

And tell your boys I feel for them, I worked for dear old dad for eight years. [emoji38]

I didn't know about Buffalo, that's sad, but they've had some pretty fierce industrial trouble in the last few years too.
I was sad when I found out Mullers had closed years ago, I was out of the loop in those days when I first went bush, on the part we mostly used their FDC's.
And I'm showing my age calling them that, the young blokes don't know what the hell I'm talking about.

You'd be fine with racks, they're fun!
Coles are retrofitting VSD's onto their lead compressors ATM.

Been doing fire/essential services testing the last week, something I've never done before.

It was only when they had a breakdown, so thankfully not too often.
For a couple of months I was doing a BrisVegas/Sunshine coast run with occasional forays to Mundubbera and Emerald.
Thankfully that's over, but at least I got to have a beer with Pedro one night.

FDC was a great name. It simply rolled off your tongue & everyone knew what you were on about with no fancy convoluted ****e.

What do you call them these days pray tell?

I thought Frederick Mullers would last longer than a Cockroach in a Nuclear strike but hey ho..

Fire tests,i spent many years doing them on new sites.Jupiters casino was one of the biggest i did,that was part of the overall commissioning of the AC job.We had full time air balancers in those days,but they always needed a hand with the motors,pullys,etc.We did all the water balancing ourselves,that was always fun and games,chilled and condenser.

Many a late night was spent doing stairwell pressurisation systems,and smoke exhaust systems with relief air,etc.then having to get them passed by the regulators.

Gold coast city council was the strictest of all the SEQ areas in those days,particularly on blocks of units.The building couldn't be handed over until they passed all the specs,so there was often a lot of pressure,as seldom did the system work the first time it was tested.

They were also super strict on toilet exhaust systems as well.The air balancers we had were always pretty good at making mistakes in our favour,if needed[biggrin]

On that note,as were the water balancers....The fridgies always did the water balancing,and oversaw all the air balancing and fire tests.

Being next to the coast,i recon most of the fire systems would be rusted up,dampers seized,etc,a real nightmare to get to work as they should.

I think they have to have a full fire test,with the building fire contracter every 12 months and partial fire simulation tests every 3 months.

After hours call,up in the ceiling,black as,no lights,i stumple across this[bigsad]

Who wants a pesky lid keeping the dust out of the contractor and keeping it safe for Techs like yourself...

Do you report things like that up there? In Vic, we could have the power turned off within hours if he wasn't prepared to get a Sparky in immediately to repair it.

Some of that 'burnt' wiring looks well dodgy. Probably as brittle as buggery as well.
