Where would you mount the outdoor units?

Rick, what brand are the EXV's that you are having issues with?
I've got plenty of vented space below.

Carel, which has really surprised me.
This is a Carel Boss control system with MPX Pro case controllers/drivers and E2V valves
We didn't do the install, we use Emerson pretty much exclusively, the E2 is our go-to controller but I've personally used Carel stuff for years and always found it good.

Two of the valves so far have the rubber grommet missing from the plug to coil connection, and the same two were missing hold down nuts which seal the coil to spindle as well as retain the coil, so it might be an installation problem, although Carel have redesigned the coil, the new version is quite a different shape with very positive sealing between the spindle and coil bodies.

I bet there are a heap of modern AC experts that would have no idea what one of these is...

Very common years ago but usually with Sporlan TX valves.
This one is a bit of a mess, looks like a mad womans ****.

I'm still thinking it could be a Remote Refrigerated Sweet Water Bath Generator but I'm not at all sure. It looks familiar-ish though. Or a Humidifier of some sort? But really, I am guessing now.

It looks like some type of capacity controller or unloader. Either that or it is steam engine running on alcohol.

It's a white line that is supposed to be circular but was drawn after a typical, long lunch.
