I would say Lucky you. Imagine getting a Callout @ 2am, an hour after your head hit the pillow. "Where TF are the Drawings Goddammit?"
I sent back "iced up evap and/or no evap fans" The first thing I would have thought of to check, is it a trick question?
Do I get the job?
Very noice and neat.
To touch any of that chilled water stuff today in Qld,we have to have a “Mechanical services plumbing license”
What a crock of ****.
So the representative from the governing body told me today that I can’t get the plumbing ticket as I did not learn about mechanical plumbing when I did my tech. But the young Fridgie guys today learn all about it at college,he said.
So I said, after 40 yrs of working on chilled and condenser water systems, and commissioning and maintaining some of the biggest systems in the state at the time, the young blokes know more about mechanical plumbing than me?
FFS I can’t believe the crap I am hearing.
So he is going to look into it and call me back.
Seems the license for the company is $3K
Plus another $600 for the company nominee or supervisor, plus $500 for me to have a Refrigeration and AC mechanical services occupational ticket(after 1/1/21,),including hopefully a plumbing ticket .Must have that if I ever pick up a spanner, were his words.
So after 40 yrs of experience I may have to go back to school to learn what I already know.
And,this bloke hasn’t mentioned it,but a mate had to do all this crap and a management course, after running his show for 27 yrs.FFS,I don’t wanna have to do that as well.....
It all shows again how the Govt are completely out of touch of the real world, and have no idea WTF they are doing. And as they are doing such a fantastic job we have to pay them some rediculous sum of money just for a ticket, for work my company and many others have been doing for many, many years, with no issues at all.
Hmm,maybe I should have put this in the grumpy old buggas thread

What's with what appears to be flat plates suspended from the roof, Rick? There must also been a lot of expansion / contraction going on how the equipment is mounted on the floor. Looks like it is allowed to move.Geoscience
What's the bet that he is a graduate engineer, that has never picked up a spanner in his soft lily white hands in his life!Must have that if I ever pick up a spanner, were his words.
Which pic re the plates?
This building is bloody massive, it felt like close to a full km from the stores and maintenance end to the labs when walking, although I think it's considered as two buildings with a covered walkway between.
The geo and core samples held there are extensive, and most are in either a coolroom or a small freezer room for Antarctic cores.
They used redundant systems on both, too.
Paul if the wurst comes to the wurst you will find it a breeze because you have those years of experience under your belt.
Years ago I did R2, later in life having only done R1 as part of my Apprenticeship Training & who, even then knows **** from clay. I went back for a year & did R2 simply because I felt I had to & passed with credits. Never had a Credit in moi life before. It was a piece of **** because I was now familiar with the Work, Equipment & happened to be a few years older etc.
