True.
I used to use that saying when certain folk could see one getting ahead with some very successful deals.
"You are a lucky bastard". Of course the obvious reply was & is. "Yes the harder I work the luckier I get. Flopbot".
Of course one never used the "Flopbot" in general conversation only when one knew the other party was a lazy ****er.![]()
Now that I'm retired I only answer the phone if I know the number and want to talk. It's part of becoming a Grumpy Old Barstool.
We have set up several What'sAp groups with family and friends and so it is usually more convenient for everyone to just flick a message than to actually talk with people.
I'm surprised more businesses don't create WhatsAp groups for their regular customers. It would save a lot of staff phone time and mean staff could focus their phone time on winning new customers.
Plus it creates a record of what was said in messages, so there is less scope for arguments about details as it is all in text.
Even our church now has a WhatsAp group to improve communications.
I once worked for a heavy equipment sales and service company. Their Qld. service manager NEVER answered his home 'phone. A well trained daughter and wife would answer the call and quiz the caller. Who are you? Why are you calling Geoffrey at this time? His office hours are 7.30 to 16.30 Monday to Friday. Call the office then.

We use email for that.
The majority of work orders are emailed through by clients as we generally require an official purchase order before we proceed.
Clients just ring me as I'm the local point of contact, and can access some systems remotely to see what's going on before sending a tech.
